Although, just looked at my bike compared to your pic, and I'm going to assume you have a 58 or 60, huh?

Yeah its a 58, sorry.

Better luck next time. I was so ready to ship it too. :p

Ride report for my new Caad 10. I like the compact crank, was not sure if i would. The bike gets up and goes, but i am really impressed how it climbs.Seat is good, had a little cable stretch got that adjusted a couple of times.Love my Caad.

I was going to post a new thread, but I figured I'd come to my fellow CAAD lovers first.

I have been digging around for various handlebars. I'm looking for something with a shorter reach than my Cannondale C3 handlebars (90mm). I'm fine with the current drop (140mm), but wouldn't mind going a little more shallow as well.

The Deda Newton Shallow has made my list, but what gets me is the 31.7 clamp diameter. I know the C3 is 31.8, as are most others, so will a typical 31.8 stem fit and work on the Deda Newton Shallow handlebars? I was planning on going with a Ritchey C260 stem. It would be a bummer if a Deda handlebar wouldn't fit.

Also considering:
-3T Rotundo
-Ritchey Logic 2
-Easton EC90 TKO (might have an opportunity to purchase one soon)

I know the dimensions are all slightly different. I also know I have listed 3 classic bends and 1 ergo style. I don't mind the hand positioning on my C3, I just want to bring it towards me a bit without dropping length off of my stem. I'm also curious as to how various traditional bends feel. I'm digging around for various used bars to try. If I don't like any classic bend bars, I'll spring for the Ritchey Logic 2, which seems to be a compact C3.

One... two......

order in the cult you say...lol...well Upilu and I have joined forces and airbrushed 90 mm carbon clinchers on our CAAD's...we started a new racing team called the "dreamers" and we will be in the tour with no sag, no sponsors, and do know we will airbrush ourselves winning it by the thickness of a 23mm tire.

BoomMcNasty 05-06-13 08:01 PM

^ can I join your team? I've never been any good at photo shop but I don't see how I could do any worse than your teammate...

seymour1910 05-06-13 08:13 PM

Sure Boom....with that sweet CAAD you have you're in....we will PS you on the podium in our PS team kit...

sorry for all of you who are lost right now, those that know the history will get a laugh out of this.

31.7 and 31.8 are used interchangeably

actual size of handlebars and stem clamps are 31.75mm
deda rounds down
most other manufacturers round up
significant digits i guess, lol

Good! haha, I didn't know how much .1mm would be, but I didn't want it cause a catastrophe.

Thanks!

FSA Wing Pro Compact?

seymour1910 05-06-13 08:43 PM

Nagrom, I thought it went without saying that you were in, you come with a sag camel and all.

I now have another handlebar on the list!

How did you all make your handlebar selection? Trial and error? Did you just go with one and still use it? Switching out shifters and everything sounds like a pain, but I'd much rather go through that numerous times for a much more comfortable long ride.

Muffin Man 05-06-13 09:12 PM

Trial and error.
Trading on this forum and stuff.
Surprisingly, the stock C2 handlebars on my CAAD aren't too terrible. I'm probably going to get the FSA bars because the flare in the bar just works with sram levers, but its not a priority.

I knew I wanted something shallow with a short reach because I am not flexible but I didn't want a short stubby stem. 125mm is a shallow drop but very comfy for me. The bars I had before them had a 145mm drop and it was really not comfortable.

Nagrom_ 05-06-13 09:22 PM

My favorite two bars are 3T Ergonovas, and FSA WPC's. The FSA's come out in front though. Lighter, and even a bit stiffer.

I'm liking them a lot, but I'm getting the itch to try some classic bend bars. Hopefully I can find some with a similar amount of drop.

Rode up the 39 to the 2-Cloudburst, for the Mudfoot Hump Hundred. Nice and stiff for the climb, descends like a Ninja. I like my bike.

Hey, don't knock the camel. The TdF announced that in order to be more green they are going with camel sag for the tour this year. They just need to work out the bike racks.

Whizzer283 05-07-13 04:11 PM

Sleepy, Love the shot of your CAAD 10 in the field. I haven't built the nerve yet to "descend like a ninja". If you don't mind me asking, what tires and pedals are you using?

sleepy 05-07-13 06:20 PM

Ha, I descend more like a marble. But going down the Angeles Crest Highway is so smoooth, it brings out the goodness of the CAAD10.
I'm using Shimano 105 pedals, and some cheapo Vittoria Zaffiro Pro 2's I got on sale. Stuff that works and has been reliable.
