Personal opinion of course, but I must agree that all stealth is one of the sweetest looks. jtwilson's is well on the way to one of my personal top 3 favorite bikes. Just look at how nice the ENVE wheels look on that frame! I think I said this about another picture jtwilson posted but I'm still not big on the gum wheels (again just personal pref). The silver brakes and b/w stem don't look bad necessarily but I still think all stealth would be the way to go.
Edit: I will say this though, I'm certainly not one of those guys who'll tell you that you MUST do anything to your bike. It's yours and you should make it how you like it.

The way i have seen other forums do it is one person took it on and everyone agreed on a design, once the design was agreed upon that person placed a large order 10 or more jerseys. The issue that I have seen in the past it that that person was responsible for collecting all funds and shipping out all jersey's. This may not go anywhere but I think it would be cool to have a jersey just for the CAAD lovers all over the world.

Went out for a nice ride yesterday, just me and the wind and the Ohio countryside. I stopped to snap a couple pics before maxing out the gears with the tailwind home. Hope you all are enjoying the late spring rides!

Thanks for the compliments and input. I am sort of at a loss as to what to do about the stem. My original intent was to get a 3T ARX stealth version when funds allowed, but then, would the bars not bother me? As viewed the from the front, the Pro series bar and stem compliment each other well with the white stripes. I don't really care to spend the money on the Team stealth version of the bars, so that puts the stem in question. Eventually I might just take acetone to the bars and stem, but it really doesn't bother me enough to go to that length.
The tires are another issue. I personally like the gumwalls, and believe they highlight the wheels, which keeps the whole bike from becoming too visually indistinct. On the other hand, I am curious to see how black tires would look, and also I am tempted to move to Continentals to help ease my concerns of flatting on desolate solo rides. Ultimately, moving to black tires would require buying 2 tires and doing the whole gluing routine twice, while sticking with the same tires would only require changing out the rear. Hard to argue with that... |
I have the same exact bar/stem dilemma, but I think it'll look just fine with the ARX Stealth and Pro bars.

I figured there'd be some other Toledo folks on this board. Lots of CAADs (and some sexy Evos) in the area.

I rode my first CAAD10 at Montgomery Cyclery in right outside Cincinnati... blew me away.
I would've bought it right there if it weren't for wanting to build it up myself. What I really need are wheelset suggestions... looking to spend $500-$700 for now, just to get rolling. I'm not racing, so I don't think I really need carbon clinchers... something mostly for climbing/training.. I was thinking about mavic ksyriums or something hand built? any ideas? |
Here's my new CAAD10... at my place:

Updated with Thomson cockpit and wheels more suited to the horrible roads around here:

Just overhauled the BB bearings on my CAAD10. By far, it was the most intricate/delicate bike project I've ever done. Even with FSA bb30 tools, I had to do it extra careful. Happy with the new steel bearings. :)

I'm trying to save up for a hand built set of wheels for my upgrade. My tasks are the same, climbing and training. I'm keeping it around $500. The current build idea I have will end up being around 1530 grams and stiff (I'm 150 pounds). Unless I choose HED C2 rims, which will cost quite a bit more but save me a few grams. Now it's just a matter of saving up the cash... Maybe I'll piece them together through summer and the holidays. |
Nice looking Caad Fatbottom, well iam biased toward that color scheme.:thumb:

Im actually really digging the purple wheels. They look so hot.

Hey Prankster - I was thinking about attempting this after the season. Any tips, tricks or lessons learned you want to share after going through the process? Also, did you buy a bearing press or make your own?
Installing press-fit bearings could be cumbersome if you're not patient and not mechanically inclined. I work on my car all the time so this didn't bother me. If you're not sure, seek help from LBS. |

I was thinking that i need to get coloured Bar tape, or saddle, or hubs to add a splash of colour, but just changing the tyre colour at a whim is a great idea. i would be keen to see what else you do as you go along. |

Very Sad Day for CAAD and its Rider

Not my bike or pictures. This happened in my area when a bike rear ended this CAAD in a group ride with the CAAD stopping for a yellow light and those behind not stopping for the yellow light - trips to the ER were involved. The previous owner of the CAAD had a picture of it from "before" he sold it.

Almost perfect except for those gumwall tires. Go all black.

Some changes. Moved the new Red group over to the CAAD10, installed Hollowgram SL crank, Yokozuna cables, switched to Speedplay pedals.
