No problem, they may not have a demo program, but they do have a 30 day trial period, if you don't like it you can just return it. That is thru bontrager themselves, not the bike shop, that is what let me pull the trigger on trying it out.

In my opinion, it takes away from the value of the bike and it looks like a bike that someone sanded the paint off. BUT it's your bike Dude, sand away.

Has anybody ever done that? I have this old bike which I use as a beater but it has paint chipping and it's a Trek, so I was thinking of sanding off all the paint. Good idea? Bad? Waste of time? lol

Where am I going to save the most weight? I have switched out the wheels which took off a pound. This is a 2012 CAAD10-5. I'm guessing the crank and groupset would be next, but I don't want to upgrade until anything wears out. I am pretty sure the stock seatpost is carbon wrapped aluminum, which must be pretty heavy. Any suggestions? Just got it to 17.9 pounds including the light, cages, pedals, and the computer mount.

I'd swap out the cockpit and seatpost. Overall, you could save 200+ grams here, depending on how much you want to spend. Most people don't advise saving grams on the stem, as it's a pretty crucial point, but the Ritchey C260 stem will save you ~20 grams and still be an alloy, strong stem.

Is your saddle comfortable? If not, I'd look at replacing it for a more comfy saddle that weighs less as well. You'll be more comfortable as well as shed a few grams.

Serious weight weenies shed the spacers and cut the steerer fork to save some grams as well. It's a free way of saving grams, although you need to make sure your body is up for it!

I recently changed my C3 seatpost - carbon-wrapped aluminium, for an SL-K carbon post. The difference in weight was approximately 60grams in favour of the lighter SL-K 'post - which was looong and uncut.
