I really like your 9 Tober, great color combo!
Excellent choice in keeping the CAAD and upgrading the wheel set.

was part of one of the scariest crashes i've ever seen/heard/felt. RIP my dear caad.....

Newly built rig. Just put it together as my new race bike. It's a size experiement for me- I've been wanting to try a smaller frame(58cm). Finally found this BB30 Caad9 on eBay, and have built it up with an older Rival group, a wired SRM, and some older 404 tubulars. Compared to my bigger carbon bikes with higher end spec, this bike has a certain beauty in it's no frills effectiveness. Still dialing in the fit, but I absolutely love it..

Anyone have any suggestions on new crankset. I'm not a fan of the FSA SL-K Light that came with my 10-3 and the chainrings are worn.

I wanted to switch up to getting the Praxis Cycles BB30 to BB86 Adapter and get an Ultegra FC-6700 Crankset (which is 700g, kinda heavy) but to round out my ultegra groupset. That's around $300 total.

I know people do upgrade to the SRAM force crankset as well. I was wondering what the experiences are of those who upgraded to other cranksets and have an ultegra group. I like shimano and have heard good things about the praxis bb adapter, and my gut is just to do that for symmetry with all the components on the bike, but if others have good experiences mixing ohter cranksets and the shimano, i'd apt to be convinced and try it out.

I know people also spend $$$ on the SISL2 crankset, but in my mind, i rather spend the price difference between that and the force or ultegra on something else.

Thanks.

I'm curious about the wear on your crank as I have the same crank on my 10-3. I have over 30,000kms on an Ultegra crank and it probably has another 30k in it.
How long will the rings on this FSA last?

I highly doubt you will like an Ultegra crankset any better. It is heavier and requires a good bit of money for a crankset that is certainly not better. If you are determined to spend your money and not get FSA, DA or Sram Red would be a nice option. A Cannondale Hollowgram would also be nice.

Looking good Nagrom, have you done anything other than the new wheels?

Thanks guys.
Nothing other than dialing in the fit.

It's a great bike. Definitely a keeper.

Great picture. The black/white frame is just astonishing. I hope Cannondale does something similar in a year or two. I shouldn't buy a road bike next year, but if the CAAD gets a similar classy colorway, I may not be able to resist. The red hubs look so great. Very subtle.

Looks like you swapped out the clear/white zip ties for black ones. Looks great! :thumb:

Thanks for all of the kind words!
The BBQ colorway really was the high point of CAAD paint (although some 9s were really nice...). There's a bit of silver on the stays, and the fork, although my fork isn't stock.
I'm hoping Cannondale makes a track racing frame in a similar scheme in the near future. I've heard some rumors that I hope are correct.

And yeah, I swapped the zip ties.

Wait, you're calling me narrow minded after you crap on some dude for putting stickers on his bike? Sure, okay.

dudemanppl 05-05-13 11:15 PM

But he didn't crap on me. Or at least I didn't smell it.

You can have my CAAD10 when you pry it from my cold, dead, legs on the top of a mountain.

Wanna trade frames? Those red hubs would look much better on my frame, and then I'll be able to go stealth finally! :P

I will consider it.

What size? haha.

56cm. I'm pretty serious if you are lol, as long as it doesn't cost an assload to dissassemble, ship, then have it re-built and all of that.

Although, just looked at my bike compared to your pic, and I'm going to assume you have a 58 or 60, huh?
