So it's been a while since I posted my CAAD7. I recently did some changes so i decided to post. Changes are FSA wing pro compact bars, Jagwire cables and housing, BOYD Rouleurs (24/28) and a nice coat of Mcguires wax. Not HOT r NOT ready or as nice as a new CAAD10, but I think it looks pretty good for an eight year old bike. Sorry for the bottles in the cages, this was right after a 30 mile ride.

Over 200 miles on my first road bike that I bought a few weeks ago. 2013 CAAD10 5. I posted when I first got it but have since put on the GP4000s tires and SPD pedals for my first clipless experience as I heard they were good for beginners and for shoes that are better for walking. Haven't fallen yet, knock on wood. No plans for upgrades as I am new and just plan to ride the hell out of it for now. Anyways, I must say that am very happy with my purchase and have zero regrets. Here's a couple shots from my morning ride on the lakefront today.

Yep, that's my bike. Did you take off your seat pack for the photo or do you carry your flat gear in your pockets?

I usually ride with a saddle bag containing a tube, CO2, multitool, and levers but took it off for this ride and went without a water bottle too since this is only a few miles from the house. I just wanted to try out a ride without the excess baggage and occasional rattle to make for a quiet Sunday morning ride. It also made it easier to take a few pictures which attempt to follow "the rules". HA.

Nice bike and photography!

Took the new wheels out for a test ride today, climbing was a lot easier with almost a pound dropped in rotational weight, not sure about descending because of the crazy wind blowing me all over the road. Braking was really nice though.

Would like to see larger photos of the Caad8

lineinthewater 04-09-13 06:25 PM

Ignore.

Pretty happy where the CAAD is at. Only thing I'm thinking of changing now is the wheels, would like something stiffer.
I left the saddle bag on for most of the pictures, but staged the full shot for those who are coming from HrN.

schgr.cube GREAT photos. I've taken dozens of photos of my bikes and keep comparing them to what I see on this forum. I want to blame it on the camera, but I don't think that would be fair.

Did you repaint the bottle cages, I can't see any logo's on them?

As for wheels, I'm loving the Campy Eurus wheels I picked up this winter ... and then I read Bianchi10's thread.

Pardon Sir, but newbie in the Forum.

Big Lebowski 04-10-13 04:22 AM

What year is that frame? Love the color scheme. It appears to match the on the 2013 website main page for the 2013 CAAD8, but I do not see it among the models.

pretzelogic 04-10-13 05:00 AM

Sir, its a 2013 model. Got it as a built-bike with Shimano 105 groupset

Big Lebowski 04-10-13 05:08 AM

Ok, so that color is not available in the USA? Instead, we get the red and silver for the 105? I guess I can ask my LBS if they can get that color, but I doubt it.

qcpmsame 04-10-13 05:42 AM

Lebowski,
The closest colourway to the bike Pretzelogic has is the CAAD8 7, Sora, in the states, checking in the website. The 105 equipped model here has some red highlights in its scheme. Pretzelogic's bike is really sharp, he has done some well thought out changes to the bike. Nicely done.

Bill

Those cages are Ebay cages. I have the same pair. They are supposedly made from the same mold as the Zipps.

pretzelogic: That is one classy CAAD8. If we could just get that color scheme instead of black here in the US either on the CAAD8 or CAAD10.

Thanks much for the compliment Sir. From the frameset's color scheme based the upgrades.

Thanks Sir. I guess here in the Philippines we have more choices with regards to the color schemes.

Thanks! I'm no photographer, just used my wife's old D40 on auto. And as someone already said, the cages are cheapo eBay ones. No issues with them so far!

Thanks, I really appreciate it. And I'm too OCD to have mismatched parts, I'm still trying to figure out a way to make my Thomson seatpost clamp work!

I'm pretty OCD about my cockpit matching my seatpost as well. I really enjoy the feel of the 3T Ergonova handlebars, but I'm not a fan of their seat post clamps.

How do you all systematically go about lowering the weight of your bike? I'd love to drop a pound, which I think is pretty do-able since it's all stock. Just comparing weights of C2 stock parts with Ritchey and 3T parts to figure out the cost and weight savings for now.

Considering:
-C2 handlebar/stem/seatpost replacement with 3T Team, Ritchey (Easton, Thomson, FSA seem to be to heavy or lack comfortable handlebar drops or only has one part of interest)
-HED Belgium handbuilt training wheel set (lighter than stock - provide better power transfer - Mavic could be used as back-up/trainer set)
-Hollowgram MKV SL crank set - Less likely to happen, but a future possibility
-Saddle replacement - I can't help but feel something more comfortable is out there

I know it's the engine that matters, but the thought of having a bike I like a little bit more, or is slightly more comfortable is an intriguing thought. Most purchases will probably be made post-summer when components go on sale again. The prices I've seen on 3T cockpits lately is pretty encouraging.

Muffin Man 04-11-13 12:50 PM

I dropped almost a pound when I switched from the stock Shimano RS10 wheels to Velocity A23 laced to novatec hubs.
