looking forward to your new ride raatty. you may have said it on the forum before but are you in Dubai for work or are you from there? I have been there two times with the Navy and really enjoyed it.
Got a phone call from the LBS at 6pm today to say that the bike is here! they are open till 9pm but i promised my daughter that i would buy her a fish. was about to take the family for an "outing" to the bike shop but then decided on following through with the fish plan. Got to the fish shop and they didn't have the one that we wanted from last week...... the things we do for our children. anyway - going to pick it up tomorrow morning at 11am so will post pics up in the evening for the CAADies (just hope that they did indeed order everything correctly and that there is nothing wrong with it out of the box due to shipping).... just got to figure out how to get to sleep and let the next 12 hours pass by in a minute!!.... i have been reading the whole cult of the caad thread from beginning though to keep me occupied, have seen some great looking bikes, but more than that, i have learnt a lot about technical things that would have taken a lot longer to grasp thanks all |
Congrats on getting your rig in raatty - enjoy it!
Latest pic of my rig - grabbed some 2013 Fulcrum R1s, as my circa 2009 R1s brake tracks are about buggered. Also fitted a 'dale C1 stem, as it looks a tad nicer than the C3 one that was fitted - saved a few grams too! Still LOVING this rig! http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps0cdbab18.jpg cheers |

Dear All - This will be a long post so i apologise in advance.
Picked up my Bike today from the LBS! woo hoo! Before i get to that, just wanna say thanks to all of the posters in this cult as i have read all of the pages and have learnt a lot about the technical aspects of a bike in general, and i have really appreciated the different builds, individual choices, and some of the vintage bikes that people have shared. although all of the bikes are great, some really stand out. It's hard to compile a list but 3 of my top pieces of eye candy are on page 235: J HY - love this black bike with White hollowed writing Nagrom - love this build. black bike with solid white writing. This nearly made me spring for Red hubs on my wheel build h2oxtc - love this black CAAD8 in blue. lovely colour (there maybe a surprise for lovers of this bike down the post) Anyway, while in the LBS, i saw some bikes that could interest lovers of CAADs CAAD9 frame hanging on display - love the colour scheme http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351155 CAAD9 hanging in the back - love the colour scheme - h20xtc's bike made me appreciate the colour blue so i had to snap it http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351157 As my wheels were being put on, a customer comes in with this bike. I was staring at h2oxtc's bike last night, and what a coincidence. I think that this bike has seen better days though - absolutely love this blue!!! I do think that h20xtc's bike looks better, but don't know if they are exactly the same frame http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351158 This is the managers bike. Has Gold chain, Gold Seat clamp, gold Headset, gold KNCN skewers, Gold rear deraulier jockeys. weighs 7.63kg (16.82 lbs) with pedals, cages, computer etc http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351159 Same bike, but wanted to highlight the custom paint job - some may recognise this from a well known cyclists bike ...*cough Cough* http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351160 Close up of front http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351161 Rear of the bike check the seat stays out http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351162 My lovely bike that i am keeping forever!! http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351163 Both of our bikes outside the shop. in the window is a super six evo in team colours that looks excellent http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351164 Bike weighs 8.02kg (17.68lbs) with bottle cages, pedals, and wheels. - got the double standard chain rings which are 53/39T http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=351165 My wheels have H Plus Son Archetype rims 28R/24F - GP4000s &00x23 Rubber, Zipp Areo Ti Skewers, White Industries T11 Black hubs. Full Front build weighs - 1.08kg - 2.38lbs Full Rear Build Weighs - 1.27kg - 2.80lbs Built by John at Just Riding Along in the UK - excellent service (and i am a fussy customer!!) I thought that it would come with black cabling, but i think the white does add some contrast, especially with the white writing on the rims. Lbs said they will change them to black if and when i want. Sorry about the length of the post - just wanted to share - sorry that the pics are bad quality and may not be the right way up and not taken correctly, will try and do it properly at another point with a good background somewhere. I will be looking to replace (but not straight away due to budgets: The chainring & Crank - wanted something black. Maybe SiSL 2 with spider but its $$$$ Bar, Seatpost, Stem - Looking at a full set of either Ritchey, Fizik, or Enve LBS suggested that they can arrange for the cannondale writing on the frame to be either filled in White, or just have a white outline. in the future though. Don't know what i will do, but since i am liking the white cabling, it could be a possibility I love reading what other members think and suggestions on equipment and colour regarding previous bikes, so please don't hesitate on commenting with suggestions. I am a brit living in Dubai. started cycling in Feb 2013. Weigh approx 87 KGs |
raatty nice post. Congratulations.

I've been registered and lurking on here for quite a while. I have been strictly off-road for a few years, but just got a 2013 CAAD 10 a couple of weeks ago to expand my cycling possibilities. If you are going to join a cult, I can't think of a better one.
Went on a run this morning and remembered to bring the camera. Still bone stock plus bottle cages and gps. Here's a couple of shots (I know, I know, slam that stem!) http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3c845522.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/...psbb3d3daf.jpg |
Very striking images, AScoda, and welcome to the Cult!
Ratty, that's such a beautiful bike. A CX bike would serve me 1000x better right now, but I can't help but lust after picking up a 2014 CAAD10 3 when the 2015s come out... I know I plan ahead, but it would be almost everything I wanted in my CAAD10. |
Had a bittersweet ride today on my new Caad10 Black Inc. Started the day trying to get my wife motivated to go for a ride and we finally got out there but she kept falling behind. She decided to head back home and I continued on another 16 miles (30 total) and turned around. The bike performed flawlessly as expected and I just cant believe how well it rode. About half way back I get a call that my 9 year old son had and accident on his mtb riding with his Grandfather and younger brother, not knowing anything other than he hurt his leg but otherwise okay and heading to the hospital I turned up the heat for the rest of the ride home. Again, bike did awesome but not priority at this point and after having X ray's and talking with the Dr. he broke his femur just below the hip on his left leg. He's resting now and scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning where they have to put in some rods and then take them back out 5-6 months down the road. I feel so bad for him and almost guilty for pushing to ride today?

Its better to suffer these types of injuries while you're young, the recovery time is much short for children. You shouldn't blame yourself, it was an accident. We all had them as kids, & as we age we try to avoid them. Don't let this mishap tarnish your new purchase. When he's better you guys can take a nice family ride together. Congrats, & condolences. |

Taking my bike out for a first ride. looking forward to it, but am worried about all the sand and wind in Dubai at the moment. rained yesterday as well. I have been told that my rims will go to a silver brake track a lot quicker when it rains |
Thanks for the thoughts, he just got out of surgery and doing well.

went for a 32 km first ride on my new 2014 CAAD10 3 Ultegra Balck Stealth bike this evening. Very windy and sandy. but i am glad that i did. all of us on here know how good the frame is. The Ultegra is definitely feeling smoother than the 105 group set on the 2013 CAAD10 that i sold. Shifts were excellent. I'm not a seasoned rider, but even i could tell a difference. I actually sold the stock wheels and mine are listed in an earlier post. i really didn't know what sort of difference they would make, but they definitely complement the frame. The hubs, the rims, all of it. Excellent excellent excellent. I am glad that i got this instead of the canyon or specialised.
I did get the 53/39T big chainring option. During a windy part of the ride and it was my first ride in 2 months, i was struggling. I actually shouted to my friend.. "I'm not man enough to ride such a big cog" through the wind, he heard the last word as something different and asked if i was married after the ride. Jokes aside... awesome ride!! |

Here it is weighing 15.3lbs with 2013 Reynolds Assaults: http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/10273627/ I'm thinking I'll sell it with the stock FSA cranks, then wheels + saddle + cockpit from the 2014 to bring the price down to around 1000$. I have sram force with red cranks on there and don't like the way it shifts compared to dura ace 7900 on my other bike. Guess I'll have to source an 11spd freehub for my Reynolds assaults as well as sell the sram red crank separately. I think the 2014 10-3 will look deadly with my Assaults. Thoughts? EDIT: Just saw your pics. Sorry. Thinking about it... this thing will cost me close to $1000 for a paintjob and a lateral move from Force to Ultegra. Hmmm... |

Went to the Trek Bike Superstore in San Diego this weekend. They were having a sale and the CAAD 10 Black Inc was only 1500 (I thought that was a great deal and was surprised to see it this low) I don't know much about these bikes other than they look pretty sexy, and comes equipped with a top notch build. Enjoying all the pics of your bikes. Enjoy them everyone!

OK, I have a question that's a bit off the CAAD topic, and maybe I should even start a new thread on this, but I need some people with Cannondale experience to respond. I've had a CAAD9 for 4 years now. I'm looking at getting an EVO Hi Mod Red Racing edition, but on the C'dale web site it is only pictured in colors I don't like. My question is, if I don't care for the blue/red/white paint scheme of the hi mod red racing, can I get it in one of the other EVO colors?? I don't see why not, as the frame seems to be identical across the EVO line, but the difference is in components.

maybe someone else with more knowledge can weigh in with more details (or better wording at least) if i am wrong. But this is my understanding based on many reviews. But this is a CAAD thread :) |

it's a spoke protector.
I had something similar happen, on a steep climb doing hill repeats, I put the hammer down and my chain jumped off one of the derailleur jockey wheels, got caught, wrapped around my cassette and stopped me dead in my tracks. I somehow managed to stay upright. Took the bike to the shop and they repaired everything...I thought. When I got the bike back, I went climbing again, only this time I couldn't shift to the extremes (cross chain). Yes I know I shouldn't be doing that but the bike should still be able to shift into those gears. So, I messed with it, thought I had it it fixed, went out in front of the house going up and down the street shifting my way through the gears and again when I got to the point of cross chaining, the chain came off the jockey wheels, wrapped the derailleur around the cassette, nailed my seat stay, cracked the frame and broke a spoke. I ended up with a frame replacement and my wheel was fine...still, it took over a month with to get this worked out with the shop. Which is why I now have an EVO - I got bored waiting for the shop and went out and blew my bonus on a new bike. |

That is less than I paid for my CAAD10 3 - Ultegra. |
A 1500 dollar black Inc?
I'd buy it out of principle. |

Well, its kind of a spoke protector, in the fact that its there so you don't over shift your chain off the cog and into your spokes. If your rear derailleur is setup properly, this shouldn't happen. However, its fairly easy for the rear derailleur to get bumped and if you're not paying attention, you'll shift into your spokes. The result of this can be damage to your frame, but usually always results with wrapping your derailleur around your cassette and breaking your hanger. Also, hope you don't do too much damage to your wheel.
