For 2014 it's still called the CAAD10 so CAAD11 won't definitely be out for another year.

hifidelity 11-29-13 09:23 PM

I test rode a 2013 CAAD10 5 which was marked down 20% off today after deciding a few weeks ago that I want to get back into cycling after a 15-year hiatus. Unfortunately it was a 58cm, and I need a 60cm, so I won't be able to take advantage of the discount (and the black/aluminum paint scheme that looks pretty hot compared to this year's options). The shop said a 60cm 2014 (in BBQ) will be available on January 15th. I guess I'll have to spend a few weeks doing research on pedals/shoes/cages/computer, etc. It appears that the purchase price of the bike is just a down payment on the accessories. :)

My 2014 caad10 3 ultegra black 52cm will be arriving middle of December according to my LBS, lucky me awesome Xmas gift just in time for the holidays. Looking foward to joining the cult...this is my first major road bike purchase and I'm stoked.
As a first upgrade I was thinking wheel set, think this is wise? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I am now riding a 2009 kona zing (Craigslist special) and thought it was time to get a bit more serious so I decided to go Caad, I usually do long rides (40 miles) given the right weather conditions and I think I've made the right choice.

I bought the same bike after selling me 2013 CAAD10 5 105. I upgraded the wheel set straight away, the pics should be on the previous page, or the one before. Although i am no expert, the bike is excellent and i am very happy with it. The longest that i have been on it is an 85km ride, more 85km to come, and on the 13th Dec i have a 92km race.

The next thing that i am going to do is get a proper fitting and am either going to go with a fitting from Radlabor BikeScanner or Retul.

Any thoughts on the above fitting methods would be appreciated.

raatty 12-02-13 04:24 PM

Sorry, I meant to say that upgrading the wheels was definitely the right upgrade for me. Comparing it to the 2013 CAAD10 I had with the stock shimano wheels, this is the same frame and I was unsure if I should spend a third of the cost of the bike on new wheels. Would it make a difference? Would I notice? The answer to both is "YES". My wheels made accelerating and comfort better and saved a little weight as well.

It's nice to see all these beautiful new Caad's. But where have all the older beauty's gone?

My lovely bike that i am keeping forever!!

Thats her alright, gorgeous bike dude I get more anxious the more I see all of these gorgeous bikes on this thread. Thanks again for sharing all the eye candy as well as helpful information. From the day I test rode the first caad10 (2011?) I knew it was "the one" couple years later I'm finally able to pick one up and I'm sure it was well worth the wait. Thanks all for confirming that my choice was the right one.
@raatty
Awesome wheels bro custom? How much?
Sorry not experienced enough so can't chime in on your fit situation but pretty sure someone will soon and enjoy that beast of a bike my man.

Bought January 2011 and raced on this past road season. I always wanted to upgrade the cranks and chainring, but couldn't get myself to replace something that really didn't have any problems. I otherwise couldn't have asked for a better frame.

More images here.

Are you the first owner of the Track frame? :o

h2oxtc 12-03-13 09:59 AM

The second of 3 Caad's I've owned. A 2005 Caad 8 Optimo. Not quite as racy as some of the new Caad 10's, but she's mine!

Very tasteful and understated, nice flat bars and stem. Looks like a serious piece of kit. :thumb:
When my frame eventually gets here I hope to build something as good.

My last 2 bikes, I had the LBS keep the stock wheels and give me a discount instead. On my Scott Addict, they gave me 900$ for the stock kysrium SLs. On my CAAD, they gave me $200 for the stock shimano wheels.

If you don't mind full carbon clinchers and don't ride your brakes on long switchback type decents, check out 2013 Reynolds Assaults(46mm, 1490g) or Attacks(32mm, 1410g) on Nashbar.com and wait for a 20% off coupon which usually happens on weekends. I got my attacks from them when they had a one day 25% off coupon. Note that they ARE 11spd compatible so keep that in mind when shopping for deals on wheels.

I have both and here is what they look like on a 2013 10-5.

Assaults and Attacks without stickers:

Assaults with stickers. This would look sick on your bike since the frame is very subtle, the wheels can be a bit busier:

P.S> I want a 2014 10-3 badly but should probably hold out for the CAAD11 or wait for the 2014's to go on sale next fall. I'm sick of SRAM force's long throw ratios and the colour is just plain badass.

There is no CAAD11 in the works that anyone has heard about. The CAAD10 should be around for at least another 3 or 4 years.

You may be right but this quote from Cannondale's global marketing guy leads me to believe that they are working on it. I've already had to get my bb30 re-greased twice now and I have only ridden the bike maybe 3000kms. I wouldn't mind a different BB technology.

“There has been a renaissance in high-performance aluminium,” said Geran. “It’s such a great material to ride.”

The CAAD10 has been in the range since 2011 so it’s due an upgrade, perhaps in model year 2015, and Geran said Cannondale’s engineers are “always looking at where we can update some of the key features.”

There was a small update from '13 to '14 with the internal cable routing for the rear brake.

Yep. I'm aware of that.

Question:
Do you own all these caads in your profile or was that the history of bikes you owned until you finally ended with the 2013 Black Inc.?
I wouldn't mind a black inc. DI2 at all but then I will barely ride my other bike.

I like the wheelset on the Scott, not a big fan of the "deep" look of the ones on the caad as why I wouldn't consider the Reynolds however I agree with what you say about how the Reynolds would "pop" on an all black frame. I might try a plain all black wheelset combo'd with some quality color tires or even gum walls for that retro look.
I'll do some shoppin around online see what deals I could find before talkin to my LBS about a wheelset discount. Thanks again.

I still have them all.

ketsana 12-04-13 01:20 PM

The Reynolds Attacks are perfect for you then. That is what is on the Scott. The decals are the same but just a bit smaller.
Too bad Nashbar is sold out. I'm glad I got mine for 750US 1 month ago when they had a 25% off code.

Check out FLO 30's in the $500 range:
http://www.flocycling.com/wheels_front_flo_30.php

I would aim for something under 1500g though to be in the 15lb range. Not sure what the stock 10-3's weigh but I'm guessing 16.5lbs with pedals. Check out Ratty's bike a few pages back to get an idea. He's got all black low profile wheels on his 10-3.

That's awesome! People collect cars, why not bikes?
Not sure if it was you but someone posted about the trek superstore in SD having the black inc for $1500. Can someone give me the location or phone# Gonna see if they would ship it to the Canada/US border.
