Mitch,
Thanks, I really don't say much about that, it was nice of them to run it in the "Why We Ride" section. The CAAD is a 10 4, 2012, in the "Gulf Oil Racing" livery blue with orange colourway. Not available for that model this year though. My LBS said it is used on a MTB or a hybrid this year. I was a serious gear hear as a kid and teenager, the Can Am racing series and the European reliability racing always were my favorites and the Porsche 917 was my favorite.

Not completely finished but 95% complete. The approximate weight as seen in picture is 15.7lbs.

Hmmm, someone just paid 60 bucks for this old SR 500 frame (plus 50 bucks postage). No thanks; not for me. Collector's item?
Its condition is a bit shabby, especially the fork, but I guess it's the cult of Caad that got it over the line. :p

That is one of the classier caads I've seen in a long time. I really like it.

I wish other companies made bikes in 2012 CAAD 10 team replica colors. So purdy and like.

Or I should just buy a CAAD, I guess...

My CAAD 10 so far:
Ultegra wheelset, Ultegra crankset, Dura Ace chain, Sugino BB30 converter w/ ceramic bearings, Specialized Romin Pro saddle, and 105 SPD pedals.

I LOVE this bike!

Since buying it in mid-November, I have ridden over 1,000 Km. I have also completed the Rapha Festive 500, one of those rides was 162 Km (100 miles).
I just upgraded the crank set today, so I haven't had a chance to ride it yet.

I am finding my CAAD 10 to be a very comfortable bike to ride. :-)

Mitch, you need me to cut you a MAF to get that cross chaining fixed :)

Which adaptor did you use with the ultegra crank? Looks good.

Minor aesthetic question. The next purchase for my road bike will be a new saddle. Which saddle I choose pends demos. My question is this: Would a white saddle and bar tape be to much white on my 2012 white/red CAAD10?

I've always had a thing for the solid black or solid white bikes; however, with the addition of red and black (handlebar/stem/seatpost), I'm wondering if the white saddle/bar tape would not work on my bike.

Thank you!

Thank you!

take a picture of your bike and post it so we can get a better idea. I can also help you out by photoshopping it with whatever you want so you can see what it would end up looking like to give you a better idea of which direction you want to go.

Thanks Gary,

The model name of the BB30 converter I used is the : SUGINO BB30-IDS24 SUPER CERAMIC CONVERTER (13,650 Yen/ $156 US Dollars)
http://www.suginoltd.co.jp/japan/pro...RTER_japan.htm

It is also available in a steel bearing version: SUGINO BB30-IDS24 CONVERTER (6,825 Yen/ $79 US Dollars)
http://www.suginoltd.co.jp/japan/pro...RTER_japan.htm

I got a little bit of a discount on the ceramic bearing version, so I chose that one. The anodized blue was a part of that choice, along with the discount. I don't know how much of a difference, if any, that ceramic bearings will make in this application. I figured I would try them out anyway.

My next choice would have been the Praxis Works BB30 converter.

Third choice was FSA threaded sleeve adapter w/ Shimano Bottom Bracket.

In case anyone is researching BB30 converters, the Sugino was press fit into the bottom bracket shell with a .002 inch (nominal) interference fit. Keep in mind the bottom bracket isn't concentric after welding, so there is a little deviation in the inside diameter dimension.

My apologizes! I had posted a few, but I don't mind posting more!

If it is of any concern as far as photoshopping, I'm leaning towards the Specialized Romin; however, this decision again depends on demoing and how some other saddles feel.

It's all stock. I believe the saddle will be my first upgrade. I'll start putting money away once I get it paid off to my parents for a wheel set. It's not a big concern of mine right now, considering I don't plan on racing for another year. I want to feel stronger and better on two wheels before I race them.

seymour1910 01-07-13 06:53 PM

Drummer, the bike looks good. I don't know if it will look better with white tape and saddle but bianchi10 is pretty good with photoshop. he will be able to show you some options. he might hit you on the reflectors though :innocent:

Ah yes. This was taken after my first ride, pre-fitting, and was ending during dusk. I'm taking them off in favor of a tail light. I just need a headlight just in case I get stuck in the dark.

I just wanted to toy around with the white saddle/tape idea. I'm not convinced it will make it that much better, but perhaps a little more unique.

Question for CAAD10 owners: How much clearance do you have above the rear tire at the brake caliper?

With 2011 SRAM Red brakes and 23mm Conti GP4000s tires I have about 2mm of clearance. Frame is 54cm. This struck me as a little odd so I thought I'd see if others have similar tight clearances at the rear brake. Plenty of clearance on the front. Pics of new bike tomorrow :)
