Hey! I feel like I've been cheated! Where's the freakin' bike porn???
Counting down the hours to the end of my work day- heading to my LBS straight after to pick up my new CAAD8.5! My first road bike, and first new bike! Pictures to follow... http://i.imgur.com/zboB4.jpg And wth is a 8.5 CAAD (if not mockery? )? |
oops- 1st post and already a newb mistake! I meant a Caad8 with 105... just like the picture! Of course, it'll be a little while before I put killer wheels on mine like rydox....
I'll be planning a black/red theme- red tape, red wheels and black frame... Everyone knows red makes you go 20-23% faster! |

Just to get you started...Full Dura Ace 7800 w/Ultegra SL crank, Ultralight CNC brakes,
Fizik cockpit, Edge 1.0 fork, Dura Ace 7900 pedals & Ksyrium Elites at 15.65lbs. :D How much of a difference in riding did all those upgrades make? I hear good wheels make quite a difference...what about the rest of the components. How much better was your ride after upgrading from the stock components? What's the average life span for a set of wheels? Currently I'm doing 125 miles a week riding to school every day and a recreational ride on the weekends. The CAAD 10 105 being my first road bike is already an awesome ride but I have nothing to compare it to other than my hybrid and a MTB. It's such a difference riding on a good bike! I did finally spin out on my compact 12-27. It was only one time and for now it's okay as I can't keep up or 'hold it' on my highest gear normal flats but going downhill I really hate spinning out. |
Any huge differences between CAAD 8 and CAAD 10 frames besides the geometry?

Awesome upgrades. I'll might follow suit with those upgrades as soon as my budget allows however it might be a quite a while as I'm going to school and not currently working. Looks like you spent more in upgrades than I spent on my entire bike! Fork and all too! Inspiring and gives me something to look forward to.

There's no need to run from that groupset. (Be back tomorrow with the rest of your answers.) :) |

But geometry aside, same frame material?

I've had my sights on a Cervlo S2 Ultegra for some time now, I haven't test ridden a CAAD but have heard great recommendations from friends since if I crash it in a crit it won't hurt me as bad as crashing an S2. I plan to get on one soon, but I do love the fact that if I get a CAAD I will have some freed up budget for a new set of wheels!

Hi, CAAD folks. I saw this on Craigslist and was wondering if it was a good deal.
Cannondale CAAD 9 Road Bike, Mavic - $1350 Cannondale CAAD 9 Road Bike. In perfect condition. Size 58cm (Im 6ft tall, should fit riders anywhere from 5'10 to about 6'3 depending on body type). It is a 2009 model, last year for the frames being handmade in USA. It is built up with a Shimano Ultegra 10 speed group set, with an FSA BB30 crankset. The BB30 bottom bracket is the new standard for all performance bikes and provides a lighter and much stiffer frame and crank. The fork is a full carbon Cannondale premium model with a ritchey stem. The seatpost is also carbon fiber. This bike also has upgraded Mavic Cosmic Carbone Aero wheels. The bike was professionally built and is in perfect tune. Included is an already installed and calibrated Cateye Strada Cadence computer. If this ad is still up, please assume that the bike is still available. It is located in Vienna, but I can meet as far west as Leesburg. It has not been involved in any crashes, has no dents or dings. |
Not a bad deal. The weels area GREAT upgrade and worth some cash in their own right. Does it fit is the biggest question you need to ask yourself. I have the CAAD10-3 (ultegra) and it cost me $1700, so that is a bit of a discount for the 9, and some will say it's a better bike (made in usa :p).
I am 5'10"ish and ride the 54, but size is all about where your height is (legs, torso, etc.) |
Looks like good wheels, good components, and an imo the best paint for CAAD9's.
Should be good. |
