Buying my CAAD tonight

After 2 56 cm C'dales (CAAD Saeco Team Replica and SystemSix),going up to 58 cm since that fits better. Getting the CAAD10 4 Compact in black, may upgrade the wheels to Aksiums if LBS will do that. Then FSA compact alloy bars, maybe my Zoncolon saddle, new SRAM tape, Conti 4000S or Vredstein Fortezza tires. No carbon crap! Should be sweet.

Just showed up online... I'm trying hard to just not call the guy...

Last two bikes for sale are hot. Fantastic deal on Shuagster's ad and I would have for sure purchased the bike in RotJ's ad had I come across such a setup in my size. Ideal paint, components, and wheels. dleccord is just another example of why I joined this cult.

Got my CAAD10 yesterday, didn't get to ride it until this morning. AWESOME. Haha.

It's so much quicker than the hybrid I was riding and so much more responsive. Also I now understand what people mean by better power transfer to the pedals on a road bike. It's so much easier to get started and conquer smaller hills. I was using leg muscles that I never used on my hybrid so that tells you something... I think my legs might actually be sore for the first time in a while. :)

Going to be a lot of fun. :thumb:

Velo_Tut 07-26-11 12:16 PM

Hahaha . . . you can still see that it's a sick ride, even with the bike turned the wrong way! (That's a good thing) lol

One of the nicest I've seen. The Hollowgram is a nice touch.

The colors on your drivetrain look similar to mine.

Older pic. I have a Rotor crank now.

My first road bike. Don't pay attention to the dork disc. I tried to cut it off with some scissors. I went all Chuck Norris on it and it still wouldn't break. Need to get heavier set of cutters.

I am halfway through riding RAGBRAI on my CAAD9 right now:
- 60 miles on Sunday
- 65 miles on Mon.
- A century yesterday (which I finished with an average speed of 19.6mph)
- 55 miles today
- And 3 days to go.
- The weather is in the 90s with heat indices in the 100s, and there have been heat advisories every day.

The faster riders out here move in 23- to 25-mph pacelines, and I've only been dropped twice despite the fact that my CAAD is virtually factory-stock, from hub to hub.

There are 19,000 riders, and probably 12,000 of them are on road bikes. Seems like 40% of the road bikes here are Treks, 20% are Giants, 20% are Specialized, and the rest are ... everything else.

And how many CAAD9s have I seen?

2 !

CAAD10s?

None

:(

No. You need to get a chain whip. Don't go ghetto on a fancy bike.

Didn't know there was a standard on using a white garage door, so I leaned it against my white car when I first brought it home. :p

It's funny you mention the dork disc. When I picked up my CAAD10 I noticed it didn't have valve stem caps on so I asked if I needed them. The guy said "Nah, those are dorky". LOL. I said "Alrighty then".

hmai18 07-29-11 06:30 AM

Just confirmed my purchase of a black 2011 CAAD10-5 and will be picking it up in a few weeks since the dealer is two hours away and I won't have a free weekend until mid-August. I'll be moving Red shifters/Force everything else from my CAAD8 over and after many years of lusting after them, I've landed myself some Hollowgram SLs.
