From everything I've ever been told, the CAAD9 was made to be a race bike and has been held high on a pedestal by crit racers because of its hardy and aluminum design, but it almost sounds as if Cannondale was changing the line of CAAD from a race bike to a comfort series. I get that things need to change from time to time, but the old saying, "don't fix it if it ain't broke" seems to apply here; there wasn't anything wrong with the CAAD9 and it didn't need any upgrades. I'm 100% convinced that if Cannondale moved their production overseas and didn't tell anyone, few cyclists here in the U.S. would notice a difference, including the appearance of Cannondale's smooth welds. And if the EVO is using the hourglass stays, then they're not out of date and their technology still works. If I was buying a bike and did my research, read reviews about riders opinions and all, there's a chance I would turn away from a comfort bike and look elsewhere. I'm sure the CAAD10 races just fine, but "comfort bike" and "competition" don't look right in the same sentence to me.

The CAAD9's hourglass stays have been carried over to the new cream-of-the-crop flagship SuperSix EVO.
That says what? That when it comes to comfort, the 10 is better.
For performance, the 9 was preferred by Cannondale engineers.

The Synapse has both a taller head tube and a longer wheelbase than the CAAD10. They're not even similar designs. If you're talking about the SAVE technology used in the rear seat stays, while that may be utilized in the CAAD, it's not the same as in the Synapse which has longer and more flexible seat stays.

I get a real kick out of how you buy hook line and sinker into corporate marketing. I wonder what you will be saying a year from now when the new EVO comes out with, "New and improved SAVE technology in the rear seat stays." For performance, the bike makes little difference between any of these models. They all put power down just fine.

^^^ WHAT'S THIS?!?! No need for facepalm here!

Beaker 06-23-11 11:37 AM

Au contraire, I think that one was quite FP worthy.

Yes...as mentioned in the 2nd line of my quote, "in context", that is exactly what I was talking about...
...Cannondale's Synapse's S.A.V.E. feature that is being used on the CAAD10 to provide a more 'comfy' ride.
Whichever is more or less comfortable, I never debated or argued that. But, it is undeniable that the rear of
the CAAD10 is derived from and uses the exact same feature as Cannondale's "comfort" road bike, the Synapse.

Why would that offend you so much? It's more "comfortable" than the CAAD9. It just is. It's it and that's that.

http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/road...ad/2011-caad10

SAVE REAR STAYS:
"Comfort meets acceleration. Rear stays are shaped and butted to allow them to flex vertically but stay extremely stiff laterally.
Wide seat stay spacing at top tube junction also improves lateral stiffness."

I get a real kick out of how you buy hook line and sinker into corporate marketing. I wonder what you will be saying a year from now when the new EVO comes out with, "New and improved SAVE technology in the rear seat stays."
A) Yeah, engineers who designed the tech have no clue as to what they're talking about.

B) I'll say "Cannondale has made the EVO much more "comfortable" than the past EVO that had the hourglass shaped rear stays."

For performance, the bike makes little difference between any of these models. They all put power down just fine.
Yeah, that's why Liquigas uses Synapses for smooth roads and regular SuperSix HiMods for the cobblestones.

CAAD10's copied Synapse's S.A.V.E. rear tech!

CAAD10's are more COMFORTABLE than CAAD9's!

I've "seen" the welds on the 10. No where near as nice as the 9's.

As discussed, the 10 has to prove itself first before it reaches CAAD9 status.
Any honest person would tell you that. Even CAAD10 riders would acknowledge
that whatever the 10 is today, it is standing on the shoulders of the CAAD9.

:D

The CAAD10 is BETTER!!!

Why? Because I have one!

Spookeay Bird 06-23-11 12:31 PM

But But the 10 is missing that American flag stickers and the cool lettering on the seat stays. That's my reason not to get one yet. But,,,,,,,,,If you slip me a Supper6 I would give you a hug.

If somehow we could combine 2ndGen's enthusiasm with the knowledge of DaveSSS or Merlinextraligh, we'd actually be able to learn something from these forums.... Wait isn't that what Pcad's for?

Velo_Tut 06-23-11 02:46 PM

we don' need Pcad muffing up this forum.

Your thread count is too low to start insulting old schoolers.

LMAO... if you're old school, what does that make me since I joined six months before you? So much for the old school.

2ndgen…are all of your 4000+ posts in thread, you act like you're the only one that knows anything about cannondale. I've read almost every post in the thread and half of what you write is regurgitated nonsense from reviews on other websites about the bikes you speak of.

Telling everyone how the CAAD9 is the end all be all is nonsense, claiming that it's technology is the best or it's workmanship is the best is again nonsense. It's becoming painfully transparent that because at this time you own a CAAD9, it's just the best bike out there. As far as you choosing it over the Supersix when you had the choice, please, sell that to someone who hasn't read every "upgradeitis" fueled post you have written.

ps..i am not mad atcha…you should love your bike, just settle down, we get it, you think the 9 is the best.

What do you ride?

And why would you subject yourself to reading posts you don't like?

And, where did I tell anyone that the CAAD9 "is the end all be all is nonsense, claiming that it's technology is the
best or it's workmanship is the best is again nonsense"? Please...quote me. Show and prove. Show. And. Prove.

(And, in case you haven't noticed, this "is" the CAAD Fan Boy Thread..
You really "don't" have to read every post if you don't like it.
No, really, you don't! That's literally Einstein's definition of crazy.
See one post you don't like by someone, read it. See another, read it.
See 4,000, read them...Like Crazy Eddie would say... "It's INSANE!" )
