Damn it all to hell. I've been enjoying my CAAD 9-5 for quite some time now, but after reading 2ndGen's posts on his CAAD, I will be looking into lightening up mine for no good reason. Goodbye bank account.
:D Get ready to enjoy it even more then! In order, biggest weight dumps, wheelset, then fork. That alone is good for 2lbs and cheap (relatively speaking). You're 9-5 has a very good drivetrain as is. Wouldn't touch that. Oh, saddle & seat post. You'd be surprised. Maybe a solid 1/4lb there. |

At a buck twenty five, you can pretty much go super light!
Soul 2.0's for me would be no good. I got a hundred pounds on you. :D But for you, they might be the ticket. $500./1330g. I did have some problems with the spokes breaking at first, but turns out some of the spokes were out of spec. Got them fixed and the have been great so far! |
Good to hear Fishy. :)
I'm going to tune my Elites and drop some grams there, but as-is, I really can't do better for what I need them for. |

Wheelset will be next without a doubt, but at 6'5", 200lbs, can't exactly go featherweight on it. |

I just realized how much it was shaped like my San Marco Ponza OEM saddle that I liked more for aggressive riding than my Fizik Aliante, but it didn't have the quality (even though it has the Antares' shape). |

^You did a nice job with the bar tape, and cool looking wheels.

My CAAD9 relegated to beater/commuter duties... I should chop down the steerer and shorten/replace the shifter cable housings, but I keep thinking I might sell it and it's a pain to mash down the starnut, so it doesn't get done.

Awesome "beater" bike...closeup of the pin-up please!

Pin-up? Is that the pink thing next to the headtube? If not, what is that? 0.o

Anyone know if the warning sticker on the bottom of the seat tube comes off? Almost seems under the clear coat or something and I'm not even sure the BBQ paint has a clear coat.
I know I can cover it, but I just want it off. |

I know I can cover it, but I just want it off. I made this sticker in about 5 minutes on Zazzle.com. It costs about $10./shipped and you get (6) 3"X3" stickers. http://www.zazzle.com/rlv/isapi/desi...front&r=454911 |

Well i'm pretty new here and to be honest, i'm probably not going to read all 115 pages of this epic thread. I just wanted to say that I got into road biking last year with an entry level CAAD9 and loved it. I thought about upgrading my components and wheels, but instead opted to buy a new CAAD10 with a better component group. Anyways, i'm glad to see that the bike i love is getting so much love here!!

Posted this in the Budget Hot or Not thread, thought I would post it here too.

White CAAD + white Soul wheels seems to = WIN

Since my CAAD9 is not my primary road bike anymore, I decided to have fun and put some WWII style nose art on it, like Mark Cavendish had on his bike a few years ago in the TdF. I had mirror image USA versions of the gal he had on his Scott Addict, but the CAAD9 is not as deep and beefy at the HT/TT/DT junction, so I had a problem getting the large decal to lay flat on the DS. When I tried using some superglue, it started to mess up the printing, so I removed it. Unfortunately, I only had one set of each pinup, so now I have non-matching nose art on either side of the HT.
