You mean Liquigas? Rabobank don't ride Cannondale.

I wish my CAAD were in those colors (liquigas), but the 9 5 was offered in blue or grey the year I bought one :(

holy crap, so if you went for campy chorus, you'd be in the 14s?! mad respect for not giving respect, i dig that.

I can still get her into the 14's quick with $500., but the main thing I wanted from her was to be a daily rider on bad roads and I wanted her to be trustworthy. I'm about 1 week away from completion. The only thing holding me up now is the saddle. She'll be in the mid-15lb range easy. But she'll be there "right". Meanwhile, here is what I did to her today... Madonna Di Ghisallo Medallian (Patron Saint of Cyclists) It's not as huge as it seems (a relief). The diameter of the head is about 1 1/2". I thought about painting it gloss black to not be so visible, but now I'm not so sure. I think I'm going to clearcoat it and mount it as is. It's a beautiful piece of work. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...dallian008.jpg KMC X10SL DLC Chain Black IS Beautiful! You can't see it in the pictures, but this chain is gorgeous! 255g out the box. I'm going to lose at least 5 links when it goes on, so I'll post the final weight then. I'm hoping those 5 links will lose about 10-15g. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...Chain008-1.jpg Install of Medallian: http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...llian009-1.jpg.http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...llian011-1.jpg http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...llian018-1.jpg.http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/...llian019-1.jpg |

My Trek 1.5 (today's 2.X) is one of the first hydroformed tube aluminum bikes that came out with that carbon-bike look. It was white & beautiful. Listen, just look at them in person. Personally, I think the black one looks wayyyyy better in person than it does online. BUT, the white is nice too. Ultimately, you will have to live with it, so just pick what you like best. :) |
Some teaser shots (I'm LOVIN" the carbon-tape wrapped shifters. Took the look to a whole other level)...

Finally ordered new bar tape for my CAAD9, this time I'm going with white.
I also figured finally figured out what flipping a stem meant. No wonder my bike felt so weird! Flipped the them and lowered it a little bit, feels and looks better now! Not going to slam it just yet, my steering pole thingy(don't know what it's called) is kinda long and I have to use a lot of spacers. When I get some money, I'll get that cut by the LBS. I will post pics once I get the bar tape mounted. |

Congrats on the nearly finish bike 2ndgen! It looks great with the medallion on he front.
I still have far ways to go for my caad9-6 in the white with red letters. My next time to get of her are a new set of wheels. But i don't know which to get haha. |

I'm not too sure exactly, trying to find deals on Cl. I've spotted a pair of HED ardennes for 750, and a pair of Easton ea90slx. also for 750.
I don't know if you remember, but i posted my bike awhile ago.. but its got sram drive train, but stock wheels, stem, fork, handle bars, and seat post. I'm thinking of slowing switching the other stuff like you did, but not as intense lol. |

I'm thinking of slowing switching the other stuff like you did, but not as intense lol. They come in at about 1565-1580g (they claim 1550g, so it's not off by much) and are wicked strong. I'm not pushing them just because I have them, but I have no problems in recommending them. Custom is also another option, but as I've found out lately, you get a lot of bang for the buck out from a factory set. I'd stay away from buying used. You could buy a seemingly nice looking set with a hairline crack in a hub or something and end up finding the hard way a few weeks after riding them. Then you're out the money you paid for them and have no recourse with the manufacturer. I'd buy new especially since you're betting your life and serious injury on something that's going to carry you at 30-40mph when you're up to speed at times. |
I thought about the Mavic Ksyrium Elites too, and wanted them. But since i saw the post for the HED, i kinda got curious about them. The guy posting it also claimed that he brought the wheels to a LBS for service, which is the same LBS that i always go to.
But if he has sold them by the time i have enough cash to get the wheels, i'll just go pick up a set of Elites then. |

They are not only light, but are strong and stiff. There's more to a wheelset than just weight. With your budget, you'll be looking at some good options. The Mavics would probably be the heaviest set you'd be looking at but also the strongest. If you yourself are a lightweight (140-180lbs), you could go even lighter with your wheels. |

I'm super light lol. i weigh 125 and i'm 5'7. I guess you are right. Having new wheels would be the better choice. If i were to go with lighter wheels, what would u recommend?
A new pair of Hed ardennes sl are like 1100 around here. and they weight about 1300g. Honestly i don't know much about wheels, and getting ones custom made seems pricy. I also thought about ordering soul 2.0s too since i've read alot of good things about their wheels. I'm having a hard time deciding since there are so many wheels to choose from. But budget wise, i'm looking for 700ish. The Elites are a nice choice, perhaps i would get them, but would be nice to have something lighter since i can probably push it with my weight. |

Soul 2.0's for me would be no good. I got a hundred pounds on you. :D But for you, they might be the ticket. $500./1330g. Custom could actually cost you "less" believe it or not or at least very close to factory builts. You can't lose with the Ksyriums. I'm never getting ride of mine. Ever. I don't even care if I get a lighter set, they are staying with me forever. Damn...you could pick up a nice set of previous model year Elites for like $400. Granted, they might not have the 2011/12+ graphics, but the wheels are the same. Here's a silver set with the 2010 graphics for $425./shipped. I suggest paying an extra $25. for the 2 year unlimited warranty. Total peace of mind and a great set of wheels. http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...1_10000_202350 |
Damn it all to hell. I've been enjoying my CAAD 9-5 for quite some time now, but after reading 2ndGen's posts on his CAAD, I will be looking into lightening up mine for no good reason. Goodbye bank account.
