hi All - thought that i would put up some pics that i took while on a 130km ride on Friday morning. Standard 2014 CAAD10 3 Ultegra in Black Stealth. only upgrades are the wheels. I still cannot for the life of me figure out why my bike came with white cables. LBS said that it was how they come from Europe. still a great ride. 130km was the longest ride i had done. it was on the Al Qudra Cycle Path (AQCP) which is an 85km lollipop purposely built for cyclist by the sheikh of dubai and cost approx 15 million USD (i think) - only cyclists allowed on it.

i do need a proper bike fit. but there was no discomfort on the ride apart from aching legs. i do love my bike - i love the stealth look even though it is unimaginative to make everything black. wanna get some black spider rings but will wait until i have the moolah

5'6" 31.5" inseam, I ran a 52cm which felt fine. 120mm stem/no setback post. Which would have been better with a 100mm stem and 20mm setback post, but hey whatever.

True its not required, just taught it would be good to share some of what i did. Before i bought my 2012 superSix, they took measurement of my arms, legs, inseam. overall height, etc. When the correct size was chosen, then came the the fun stuff. I was put on some kind of specialty table, they check my flexibility etc. To make it short before i leave the shop with my bike it was set up to fit me like a glove. And the fit was factored in with the prize of the bike. To many times i see people buy new bikes, and the first thing they do is to start upgrading wheels and components. I was told that the first thing to do is get a proper bike fit, before any thing else and i listen. But to each is own and its not a requirement just taught i share my experience.:thumb:

Specifically the inner bolt torque, doesn't hurt to ask the other questions :D

But, I did download Cannondale's manual and searched "headset" but the closest thing I got was the break-in period info and "after long/hard rides do this check".

Is that just the normal manual...?

Yep, found it on the 'net whilst looking one time. I certainly wasn't internding to criticise you with my response, however, did want to ensure that you were well aware of the safety aspect - particularly if it was assembled incorrectly and somethineg went awry mid-ride.

cheers

kinda blowing it out of proportion.

The only thing the top cap assembly is used for is pretensioning the headset bearings. It doesn't hold the stem in place. It's not like your bars are going to come off the bike if you do it wrong.

Just rode my 2014 ultegra 3. Went out on a 30 mile ride this past weekend and let me tell you what a fantastic ride it was. I myself can't figure out why the bike came with white cable housing I guess it throws off the black a bit. Will be changing the housing to all black later today along with switching out the stock bar tape.
Does anyone know where I can get a shifter cable adjuster (front derailier cable) on the cheap?

I'll post pics of my baby as soon as Im finished my pre customization lol.

shoota 03-03-14 04:47 PM

Ha. I default to the Europeans for style. You don't see anything coming out of there all black do you? I like color. Black is the antithesis of color. Life is too short to be boring.

Nebby10 03-03-14 05:25 PM

I've been thinking of picking up a CAAD10 frameset, but I don't like the two color schemes that are currently available :( I've got a black bike already so I've got that out of my system :p

I tried to black/green, white red, or black/white and finally gave up and went black/black. I decided that velo-god wanted me to have this color. Sometimes the bike picks you.

I should note that I get a real kick out of people asking if it's a Super Six Black, and then I say it's CAAD10 and they act let down, lol.

Nebby10 03-03-14 06:05 PM

I was trying to buy the CAAD10 Black Inc. frameset but was bummed to find out they don't sell it separately :( I really like that they use an anodized finish.

First post.
I obv haven't read the whole topic...

I have an old but still good Caad 5 team Saeco and i am wondering if i could fit a 700 x 28 tire on it?.
I asked two cannondale seller this week and one of them told me it was impossible and the other one said it was the limit but it would fit...
Any help on this?

You are just going to have to try it. It'll be REALLY close. Take it to a good lbs and see if they'll let you test fit a 28c tire

Its to keep those mean old, terrible, hard wood floors from messing up his expensive tires, of course!

SirHustlerEsq 03-04-14 07:04 AM

The black/gloss black frame is anodized. I think the lettering is applied, then sandblasted, lettering removed, then anodized.
