Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There is a guy in my area selling a 2011 10-4 and wants $1500 FIRM. It has been there for about eight months and he still is saying FIRM. It's as if he doesn't realise the 2015 models are right around the corner. Heck my LBS has the 2014 10-4 for just $150 more than he is asking for is 2011.
The market in Los Angeles area is just as bad. Good thing I was patient though as I just picked up at 2014 10-5 for $1150 from a local bike shop that is having a huge sale. CL prices on used 10-5s are around 1200

Welcome to the Cult sir, and congrats on getting a top of the line bike.

One thing though, if you come in here talking about your sweet deal, and not share a pic. Even a cell phone pic will do.

Thank you for the welcome. I would share a pic, but its just a plain stock 10-5 so it is not as impressive as what others have on here.

ehh..LA market is not nearly as bad as some others. When I was shopping a few months ago I saw a 1 year old CAAD10 Ultegra and some upgrades asking price $1300. Saw a CAAD9 with Ultegra for $700. Definitely a few people who are insane around here but if you troll CL for a few weeks I think you can find some good deals

Hello,

I just replaced my 105 front der. with a Sram Force Yaw,
B
I noticed the brazed slotted hanger was compressed on the front where the previous fd bolt would tighten against.
It might have made the new install a bit tricky if it did not fit n the same position but luckily it did.

Has this happened to other owners ?

Bikes: 2011 Cannondale CAAD 10 SRAM Rival

I've been waiting forever to get a CAAD10. did a few test rides but things are expensive here in NYC. Found a CL for a 2011 CAAD 10 Rival ~400 miles "mint" condition asking $1200. is this fair or should I really try to talk him down? also, anyone in the NYC area have good contacts with reasonably priced LBS? thanks all, hoping to join the cult soon!!!

That sounds way high to me. A friend found a 2012 in upstate NY for $800, and the guy had barely used it. Keep an eye on ebay and NJ Craigslist sites. It might be worth taking a drive to save a few hundred bucks.

$1200 is high for that bike. Did he put some pretty nice upgrades on it? Post the bike here and let us take a look. Bluebook on that bike in new condition is only about $930

Very nice bike, I actually wouldn't mind having that frame myself. I still would'nt pay more than $1,000 for it.

The '15 models are right around the corner. Top dollar for a 2012 model is just not going to happen.

x2 on the brushed alloy. I hope the caadx w/disc has a brush alloy model

I would say wait for the 2015s to come out and hop on a year end sale. I got my bike for 1400. Someone just picked up a 2014 for 1150 or some stupid low price.

Shops around me were selling previous year model 105 for $1275 end of model year. I would imagine even in NY you'd should be able to get that. Check REI too because many of their stores sell cannondale and their pricing is set the same across the country

It's going to look like this until STan's Grail wheels mail:

Those tires were so expensive, it hurt a little.

I just bought a new CAAD 10 4 after riding a hybrid for a few months. a friend with a lot of experience was extremely helpful with educating me on the ins and outs of bikes, and why paying more is worth it. I got my new 2013 CAAD 10 4 for $1200, and to me its worth soooo much more. awesome upgrade from my trek 7.4 fx.

I was wondering if any of my CAAD brethren have any experience with the Boyd Altamont. Looking for a new wheel set and seeking opinions

Thanks! I had read through that and it mostly turned into a huge pissing contest between two other wheel builders (flo and i cant recall the other). Was specifically trying to find out if anyone had any troubles with clearance on their CAAD (realizing i probably should've said that initially). I want to run 25s on the wheels because i run into some crappy country roads where i live and just taking a shot to see if any other cannondale owners have this set up.

I can't see 25s being a problem. I ran 28s for a while on my CAAD-10 with Boyd Vitesse wheels.

I recently did the "max tire size test" with a myself and a few other CAAD10 owners the evening before a gravel grinder. I'm fairly certain that everyone can fit a 25c Gatorskin on the rear, most late-model CAAD10 forks can take a 28c Gatorskin up front. I think once person could just barely clear a 28 in the rear; it seems that some seat-stay brake mounts are welded a fraction higher than others.

Basically, 25mm wide tires still leave a ton of room.

Post a shot of the CAAD with the new hoops on it, shipping is usually pretty quick from Boyd. I got my wheels in two days.
