Remove the spacers...set the hoods so they are level with the floor to start. A -17 would be level with the ground.
Then make sure your neck and back can handle the slam.:D If it was set up that way by an LBS, it may be for a reason??? I reckon he ought to rotate the bars down a little first, then see where he's at. BTW GAWD - I like that colourway - reminds me of the Bumblebee transformer! cheers |

Picked up a CAAD10 3 in May this year. Great bike, have ridden quite a few long rides including a century. Compared with my old Le Mond its much more fun and not really any harsher. The bike weighed in at 17 pounds with the wheels and pedals. I still commute on the LeMond.
Only complaints were the seat and wheelset. I built a set with H plus Son Archetypes and White Industry hubs. The ride is great. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=396742 One of my best friends just got this same bike. Very nice. Just wish the chainrings would come black since everything else is. |
I have considered putting the Ultegra crank on with an adapter I have (praxis). The crankset shifts just about as good so I will probably leave it for now. Black would look good though.

Doesnt that throw the wheel balance off? |
Picked up caad 10. 5 for a steal, 40 miles on it still had the demo pedals on and the plastic protector on the hoods . Team colors and we just added a set of cosmics . Bike feels amazing .

Bought some cheap Chinese carbon clinchers for the CAAD10. For $365 shipped for the set, I am not disappointed at all.
Here are some pictures from a quick 7am ride on the west side. http://www.pedalroom.com/p/2012-cann...-2-13156_4.jpg http://www.pedalroom.com/p/2012-cann...-2-13156_2.jpg http://www.pedalroom.com/p/2012-cann...-2-13156_3.jpg |

Man, where the heck did you get carbon clinchers for $365?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
BTW, looks great although they are intentionally "assymetric" w/ the deeper V in back than front??? Thanks. I didn't want to go too deep in the front because I ride a lot on the water front and I was concerned that the crosswinds might get annoying. I know that deeper is more important in the front but to be honest this is mostly a cosmetic upgrade above all else. I don't go fast enough in Manhattan to justify the Aero advantage [I average 17-20mph]. For<$400 I figured it was a worthy upgrade. |
That's sick!!!!!
BTW, just to be sure.......I mean, normally those would be AT LEAST $1K, no??? (unless I'm missing something?) And the hubs & spokes all look good??? Were they fairly true when you rec'd them??? (I assume the tires are yours w/ that greenie on the back) :p |

(I assume the tires are yours w/ that greenie on the back) :p Chinese carbon wheels are much much cheaper than name brands for many reasons. However the positive reasons were not enough for me to justify paying for a set of Zipps, especially since I got it mostly for cosmetic reasons. (search on this site for Chinese carbon wheels and you'll find a few threads with info). These were a bit cheaper than other sites that I got quotes from (about $100+/- cheaper than other Chinese sellers). Yes, the tires are mine, what ever I had spare lying around. The wheels came assembled, trued, rim tape on already, carbon brake pads for shimano/sram brakes, notavec hubs (which are fairly quiet and smooth), 2 extra spokes. If its a route you are looking to go I think its a good price for them. I didn't use the brake pads that came with the wheels, I opted to go for swissstop black prince pads. heres a video I took this morning on the west side highway I had a 50mm rear carbon clincher on my fixed gear bike and ride around Manhattan all summer and its still true and holding up well. [ my fixed gear bike ] |
Very cool!!! I forwarded to a guy who has carbon clinchers right now on a Specialized Tarmac SL4 S-works, carbon-everything, yada yada that I know worries about if he ever damages a wheel. (He's got some of those weird cork brake pads that make funny noise every time we ride together.) ;)
I may do carbon wheels in the future and that's DEFINITELY the way I would go for the money but my EVO's got Aksiums on it right now & I know they're a durable trainer which is what I need for the crap roads I ride right now. And I gotta hand it to you CAAD folks. The EVO doesn't get much advertising love. You either know it's an EVO or you don't. The CAADs, tho, you usually can't miss. They say "CAAD" all over and/or the number (10, 9, etc.) on them somewhere. But wait......aren't you a traitor if you have carbon clinchers on your CAAD??? :p |
check back in a few months to let us know if those wheels explode on you. I've thought about some cheap Chinese wheels but I'm too scared

AristoNYC, Nice color choice.
Bike looks great! I recently pulled the trigger on some chinese carbon fiber as well. Wheels arrived in 9 days. 50mm wheels (x20.5) seem great so far (did not explode with 118psi). Below is my budget build with a mixture of craigslist and ebay parts. 2007 caad8 optimo1 that i repainted about a week ago. I dropped a dresser on my idiot foot so am out of commission for another week+. Cant wait to ride this thing. Did a century 2 days before the "furniture incident", hoping to do an immediate wheel comparison... but that didnt work out. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../IMG_0756a.jpg Handlebar neck is short because my mountain bike is borrowing it at the moment. |

Hi,
I'm looking at a 2014 CAAD 10 frameset; it's the Black Inc edition that was originally spec'd with SRAM Red - now it's a bare frame set. This frame has a hole at the back of the chainstay and another on the back of the seattube for Di2 wiring but I don't see an entry point near the headset for a-b downtube wire. The seller didn't know so I'm wondering if there's anyone on here that does. It looks like the cable stops at the top of the downtube might actually be removable - the ones on my older CAAD look welded on whereas these almost seem like a hard plastic and I'm wondering if they pop out for Di2 and if there's supposed to be a guide/grommet to takes it's place and then perhaps a cover for the other side? Thanks |
I bought the Caad10 5. But I didn't notice what's the crank arm length on it. Does that come stock or should you LBS ask you what length you want it? Because mine didn't.

Thanks Don't know about the installation though. The video does not show the left side of the bike. EDIT: Just found this. The Di2 cabling goes into the top tube just above the brake cable stops. http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/r...201_084433.jpg The 2014 CAAD10 Black Inc. doesn't have downtube stops (see video and previous image). If the frame you're looking at has stops (plastic, screw on), I think it's a 2013 version. Those are removable, and should come with plugs. http://dtvep25tfu0n1.cloudfront.net/....jpeg?size=800

http://dtvep25tfu0n1.cloudfront.net/....jpeg?size=400http://dtvep25tfu0n1.cloudfront.net/....jpeg?size=400

|
