Nice to see a fellow Northern Virginian. I'm thinking of calling in sick tomorrow so I can go for a ride. Its suppose to be nice.

I've picked up so many women at Gravelly Point while on a break there.

Anybody tried to fit 28's on a newish model that's not a CAADX?

Michaeh 01-17-17 11:27 PM

Hi everybody

Just brought a used 2013 Caad10 105 last week and I'm loving it so far. Its my first serious road bike.

Anyways got a question for all the caad owners.

i was just cleaning my bike this evening and I noticed a scratch pattern on my right chainstay that looks kinda like oval/cylinder. It couldnt have been caused by a fall or leaning against something because its too perfect in shape. I was wondering whether Cannondale puts it on (for whatever reason that I cannot figure out) or somehow the previous owner caused it.

So I tried googling this and I came across a picture in a review of a 2014 caad10 and it kinda looks like something similar

If anyone can help me out that'll be great because this thing is driving me crazy

It's helicopter tape to protect the paint from scratches from the chain.

Just joined the cult this week. CAAD12 SRAM Red. Weighed in at 16.1 on a 58cm frame. I'll get more pics up after a proper wash and first 40-50 mile ride

Please tell me this is the most amazing thing you've ever ridden. My local shop has one in my size on closeout (2k down from 3.2k...), and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. Cannondale's site doesn't have the Red version anymore, which makes me think that my be why.

I've got good and bad news for you. At the moment I cannot honestly say this the most amazing bike I've ever ridden due to the lack of miles she has on her (which is the bad news). I live in Michigan and the current weather patterns are keeping me on my fendered winter bike. That said here's the beyond great news. In the short 5 miles I used to tune the derailleurs I can say this bike is a super bike. It weighs in 2 lbs lighter than my carbon Felt that is equipped with SRAM Rival 22. It accelerates unlike any other bike I've ridden (I currently own 7, soon to be 6 after I sell my carbon Felt). Steering is super responsive and cornering is amazingly stable. I cannot wait until spring arrives so I can put her through her proper paces. Also you'd be hard pressed to find a new SRAM Red groupset for under $1,500 a new Hallowgram crankset for under $800, new Kysriums for under $400, so if I were you and had the money I'd jump on that clearance deal at your lbs before someone else your size snatches it up. You will love the CAAD12 and have no regrets.

For the sake of reference...NOS SISL crankset for $300 (which is a bit on the high side, I only paid $200 when I picked up mine a few months ago)

Just wanted to add my 2013 CAAD10 105 I've owned since new. Just gave it a 10,000 mile re-fresh. My wife gave me a work stand for Christmas, so new cables and housing, cleaned up, lubed the noisy BB30, new cassette, Fulcrum Quattro wheels, new pedals, bar tape, and added a front Cygolite Dart flasher. I need warm weather so I'm outside riding it instead of spending money.

Duco, non ducor ;).

What is the difference between CAAD 12 and CAAD 8. So far I see the fork is slightly thinner and it has internal cabling. Anything else?

evan326 02-12-17 11:49 AM

Frame material is the biggest, that equals to a decent weight difference.

drock79 02-19-17 12:42 PM

Just under 100 miles on this beautiful beast. Every time I take her out she surprises me with something new and wonderful. Best aluminum bike on the road hands down.

And yes I do need to trim the steerer tube, but I'd like to get fit first, measure twice cut once ;)

Curous

Im considering a used CAAD 10. Would like to get folks feedback on why they prefer Cannondales. I've wanted one for years. Thanks.
