Finally joined the cult after dreaming of owning a CAAD 10 since 2012. Was considering the 12 for a while but couldn't find my size locally, plus a good deal on this bad boy helped me seal the deal. CAAD 10 Ultegra, swapped out the wheels for Fulcrum Racing Zero Nites, Shimano Pro Vive 7S cockpit, and Specialized Romin evo saddle. Absolutely love this thing! Considering repainting it to something more low key though.

You will also need to update your crankset to a 24mm thru axle. From the item description: The BB30 standard was a boon to frame builders, but it added confusion and trouble for people who either already owned, or simply preferred cranks like the Rotor 3D24-cranks with 24mm diameter thru-axles. The 3D24 is not the only 24mm thru-axle crank: Shimano’s are that diameter, as well as FSA’s MegaExo line. BB30 refers to the thru-axle spindle diameter Cannondale pioneered, but the measurement that matters here is 42mm. That refers to the inner diameter of the BB30 bottom bracket shell. |
Putting the travel bike to use that I build up in June for this trip...

I know people have talked about these in the past, so I thought I'd share this...
They say they're a authorized seller. I bought one, it looks to be legit. I'm tossing the mkv rings and putting on a new Spiderring I had laying in the parts bin. Not a bad deal though, I think Cannondale Experts lists this at $975 Cannondale Hollowgram Sisl Crankset 172 5mm Standard with MKV Rings and Spider | eBay |
Sweet! Looks like it wants to go!

Finished up my Saeco build, found some decent Spinergy's for a good price. This is mainly going to be a coffee shop bike however. I'm a little worried about the Spins!

It's hard to believe that anyone - especially someone who works in a bike shop - is that stupid to clamp an aluminum bike by the top tube.

Yikes - I didn't know that. I have a CAAD9 that I clamp on the top tube all the time. Guess I won't be doing that anymore!
Common sense goes a long way. Kind of like torque wrenches...if you're not an idiot, you probably don't really need one. That said, if I took my bike to a shop and they didn't clamp the bike by the seatpost, there's no way I'd ever take my bike back there. |

I'm looking to upgrade my CAAD10 or just getting a new CAAD12
I have a 2012 CAAD10-1 that has Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 parts so it's 10-speed. That part doesn't mind me as much as the dent it has on the top tube which happened 3 years ago. It's about 1 inch long horizontally and 1/4 inch high but probably about 2-3mm in. I don't want my frame failing and all. Plus, I have the opportunity to get into a slightly smaller frame size so I can have a more aggressive fit. Got offered $1700 for an Ultegra CAAD12 from my LBS but wanted to add about $1k in a carbon wheelset. If I keep my CAAD...it's really the dent that would bother me then the fact that it's still 10 speed. Other than that if I get a tune-up and change the tires it would be road ready but I haven't rode it since March. |

Adding that I removed the wall mount part. I use the parktool stand to clamp on the hanger tube. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://cdn3.volusion.com/ykqlq.dkgme...jpg?1369026818 |
Paint stripped CAAD9
4 Attachment(s)
Started out with using Aircraft Paint Remover to break through the clear coat. Then started wetsanding using 180 grit and worked my way up to 1600 grit. Took about 25+ hours to complete. Topped it off with 3 layers of Ceracoat clearcoat. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Looks great!

Why?? That blue frame is my favorite CAAD9 colorway. I would gladly trade my all black frame for it.

For me, my creaking ultimately was the crankset itself - it just needed to be taken apart, cleaned, and rebuilt again. I did swap out my PF30 for a Wheels Manufacturing one which was like $40 or so.

A potentially controversial one... 2015 CAAD8 in Cannondale Green with Shimano 105 groupset on Bontrager Aeolus 5.0 carbon tubulars/ Novatec Jetfly Clinchers. Beautiful wheels with DT-Swiss Race X-Lite for Bontrager hubs, based on the DT-Swiss 180 hubs, and aerolight spokes. I peeled off the wheel graphics leaving only the HED logo on the rims as to some it is sacrilege to have Bontrger on a non-Trek bike! The Novatec's are basic alloy training wheels with 32mm semi-aero profile at around 1400g a pair.

The new city/all purpose bike: CX9. The color I wanted and the correct size too. It took a few months wort of looking around to find it.
