Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ceramic pulleys - Anyone try them?

I've been contemplating whether to buy me some ceramic wheel pulleys and I see quite a few choices out there.

1. I'd like to know if you really notice a performance difference/improvement with ceramic pulleys and;

2. What manufacturer is best or recommended? I see a range of manufactures (i.e. FSA, SRAM, Enduro, Tacx, BBB) and prices but paying more doesn't always translate to better performance.

I'm currently have a 2011 SRAM Force rear derailleur.

Thanks!

I bought ceramic pulleys, measured the bearing drag, found that it was no better than ordinary bearing pulleys so I sent it back.

So to answer Q1; performance difference = zero.

To me this renders Q2 a moot point.

Bikes: two wheeled ones

if you want to upgrade the RD I'd go with larger pulleys before I'd get ceramic. Those actually make some sense since the tight radius bends take more power from your chain than big bends.

I think SRAM claims you save 1 watt with Red's ceramic pulleys over Force/Rival.
