I liked the video.

Man, he could make those rollers scream!

But, I'll admit that at about 1:05 I was kinda hoping that a roller would seize and he'd go shooting off the front. That would have been funny!

Maybe, but I bet 99% of cyclists do.

I should make vids of my "spinning in tempo to jazz tunes" rollers workout.

I think it's quite appropriate that he sounds like a locomotive in that video.

botto 10-26-10 11:39 AM

ozzie roller action.

Reynolds 10-26-10 03:10 PM

All stories have been told already. Form is what counts.

Thread cleaned up, lets keep it on topic and cut out all the bashing.

Wow an unlocked thread?

Cool.

+1 for performance travel trac rollers.

That's why this thread confused me so much. It used to be more pages. Thanks for unlocking it.

I actually did find the OP quite helpful. There are a lot more threads than these when one searches on the topic. The links posted actually do a lot to sift through the debris of what could be an overwhelming search.

27 roller links........

Since every imaginable roller question has already been adressed, I guess this means I can't shill the E-Motions any longer.
Which oh by the way are the best rollers on the planet bar none

I'd watch that. Especially if it was Coltrane's Giant Steps.
Even better, you playing the trumpet or trombone on the rollers.
And I'd pay cash to see you do a remake of the tuba video you made a couple years back. This time on rollers though instead of the trainer.

Linky?

BarryJo 10-26-10 07:21 PM

Needle in a haystack.
Maybe the 41 Foo thread from a couple Winters ago?

Grumpy McTrumpy 10-27-10 04:02 AM

trumpet might be possible, except it would sound like ass

Grumpy McTrumpy 10-27-10 04:06 AM

I don't think it's gonna happen on rollers

Grumpy McTrumpy 10-27-10 04:24 AM

the original Giant Steps was at 288 bpm. That means either a comfy climbing workout at 72 cadence or almost 5 minutes of pushing 144. hmmmmm

I do like a challenge

Don't do it, I don't want to feel responsible if something goes wrong.

How'd you'd figure out BPM for Giant Steps? Metronome?
Maybe start with something slower, "Kinda Blue"(?), and work your way up.

Grumpy McTrumpy 10-27-10 05:43 AM

metronome.

I'm pretty confident that I can do that length of time at 130rpm, since some of my practice tunes are in that range. 144 is probably tougher, but I do bounce less at that tempo since it seems to be above a certain threshold of natural bounce rhythm for me.

To get a quick read on anything related to cycling, Sheldon Brown's website is always not a bad starting point.

Though not generally thought of as a cycling resource, wikipedia sometimes has something decent along with good links. For good karma, if you know better than what's written already, improve the article since it's much more likely to be found later by others than a BF post. As it stands, wikipedia contains articles both on rollers and trainers

That was excellent. I'm not sure what I appreciated more, your commentary or the tuba being played while riding a bicycle.
