Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: A trek

The snail gets his wings!

So I decided to make my own bike thread. This way I'll be able to show what I've done so far...

I started with a Rocky Mountain Solo CX

I always took care of it like it was my child, it was a bit too small but still good enough to have a LOT of fun with it and get started into this cycling addiction (blue tires were a really bad idea though... better than the camo tape but still a bad idea. Oh sure it looked awesome when I had my blue kit+blue water bottles but when I remembered I had two kits and the other one had yellow in it I like facepalmed myself quite badly)

Now when I first received the frame I did what I was able to do with it.
just to have a little idea of how nice it would be and I was pleased. There were a few useless sticker on it and it wasn't even cleaned. There was also some camo tape in the box with it... LOL

then tried a little transplant from my CX bike. (nicer cages too)

since there's a limitation to how many pictures I can put in a single post I'll stop there and wait a bit later to upload some other pictures...

Bikes: A trek

Or not!

so yesterday I received the group :O

Bunch of cables woohoo!

Brakes ( I actually had them before...)

Shifters ( take note that I haven't yet taken the protective sticker off the alluminium part) I was glad to learn that you can double shift with them a bit like Campagnolo except less and you do not have that silly thumb shifter

Blurry but these are real world colors.

They messed up the BB so they are already sending me a new one for free not Ita/Eng this time...

11-25 cassette, Like I said before, I thought these things came already assembled, I was shocked LOL

Cool chain

Everything else in the next post

RD is looking real nice, the middle part is shiny black and the other part is matte with a small point of shiny black in it. Awesome

Here's the FD crappy picture but it's nothing more than a FD...

awesome looking crank

I made the picture a bit bigger for this one so all will be able to be amazed by how awesome it is I really, really like the color!
I know it's just a plain feeling but it's a lot lighter than what I had on my CX bike and for some reason that I can't explain it feels stiff nonetheless.

But now I can't install the crank and everything since they messed up the BB but it's winter and I can wait.
So I'll post more pictures later!

Bikes: Have two wheels

That's going to be a sweet ride. Can't wait to see the rest of the assembly details.

So far so good. Is that razors old frame? Needs camo bar tape or else it'll be cursed.

Yes it was his frame but that didn't stop me, I like danger and for the curse I had to do some rituals and a ceremony to take it off but it should be rideable now.

And What is actually missing are some black tires,
shoes and pedals.
I ordered some speedplay zero, I hope they wont try to kill me like my shimano mtb pedals.
My scar 5 months later...
(Big ring ftw)

Epic leg hairs, It's winter over here, so I'm not cycling outside and so I'm not shaving.

Camo tape + useless stickers. Do you need to ask?

Don't forget the fact that it wasn't even cleaned up.

From ribble I had the whole groupset for really really cheap compared to everywhere else. if it wasn't of that silly mistake with the BB everything would have been more than perfect, on the other hand it's winter and I can't even try it for real anyway so I can wait. They're going to send a free one and I'll have a weird Eng/Ita BB now LOL.

Okay today I received some other things I was glad everything fits well. But the sole is so slippy I almost fell on my butt while trying to walk with them LOL...

And the pedals are nice I know they aint the 650$ ones they are just the chromo-li version but it should be good enough for me.

But more important, the cat seems happy.

Nice shoes. I love the cat, too. I hope you paid < $150 for that frame. I haven't gotten to try the 105, I wonder how it compares.
