Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

FSA K-wing Computer Mount...

Well...I have the FSA K-wing handlebar on order and have found out that FSA sells a computer mount since the shape of the K-wing next to the stem doesn't afford much room. I would like to mount my Cateye Strada wireless computer to this mount and a quick question for those that one please. Would you measure the width of the round perch? My Strada has a pretty broad base when using tie straps.
Please take a quick measurement if you would.
Thanks.

Plenty room for the computer mount. The mount is a little wimpy and on rough roads the computer will vibrate a little. Also make sure you do not over-tight the two attachment screws. The mount will brake -- upside is that you do not need much force to attach the mount.

...or mount it on the stem if it is the right shape.

And if it isn't, stem mounted computer is another option.

...believe with the Strada pull tie base I need 45mm min...Cateye Strada base is quite wide. Can you guestimate how wide the FSA round perch is? Hard to tell from the pic and can't find any dimensional specs. The perch appears to be longer than the 31.8mm clamp ID but pictures are hard to tell if it will be long enough.
Thanks.

I've used this with K-Wings. 70mm long. Solid. No vibration.

See example.

Zip ties are your friend. I have the same bar and i mounted my Polar on it with no issue at all. I'm not into the strange appendages sticking out of my bike...

Bob,
After surveying my options, I justed ordered the bracket that you linked...which I believe you sell
I read too many reviews of the FSA computer mount causing vibration...due to being made from flexible plastic.
I therefore opted for your clean looking standard bracket made from aluminum which apparently is more solid.
I will be sure to update this thread with a pic when I get your dashboard genie installed onto the FSA Kwing also on order.
Thanks.

X = 1 7/8" = 47.6mm

At least on one thats about 5 years old. And it is pretty jiggly.

Thanks Terex. I found some reviews on line about the FSA mount and decided against it because of it being jiggly as you put it....seemed to be the universal sentiment. So will try Bob's mount which looks similar only made out of aluminum.
Will let you guys know how it works when I get it together if it ever stops snowing...man what a winter.
