Specialized Concept Stores
I am wondering if anyone has any experience taking your Specialized bike for service at a Specialized Concept Store OTHER than the one you purchased your bike at? I have a decal near the BB with one vendor, and I am wondering if I am stuck using that vendor for service, since some other vendors may be more convenient during some rides. The shop that I purchased from offers free adjustments and minor repairs, etc...
Will the other vendor sneer at me and treat me like **** since i'm not their customer? My friend brought her Trek in to ask for a fitting, and they "almost made her cry."

ya.. not only were they going charge $100 more than my bike fit AND they wouldn't tell her any pricing for installs... and overall they were pretty rude to her.. but when i walk in w/ my Tarmac.. they treat me like a god!! hah

I personally would not go to a shop that I knew treated someone that way. I look at it as a shop needs to earn my business. There is a newer shop near me and they are great, i have not yet bought a bike from them but they get all of my other business if they have what I need.

so um.. too bad for her i guess..
anyways...
back to the original question.. has anyone taken their Specialized bike to another Specialized Concept store and got improper treatment? not just a retailer, but the corporate sanctioned Concept Stores?

Keep in mind that concept stores are still a privately owned LBS. If you are asking about getting a freebie service for your 2011 bike then you would need to take it to your selling dealer as no manufacture I am aware of includes free services with there bikes. The dealer offers that. If you are asking about warranty then any Specialized dealer should be willing to help you with that.

No, money is money and a bike shop should do whatever it can to earn your business regardless of where you bought your bike orginally.

surf city is really hit or miss. i've received absolute terrible service there and other times I get decent service. There are obvious not obligated to give out free work but the person could have easily explained that to the customer and gave her a quick quote. It's a shame that customer service is a thing of the past.

^^ Have you seen the Movie 'Waiting'? It's surprisingly accurate with regard to the restaurant business and (unfortunately) much of it can be applied to any service industry, like bike shops. Customer service becomes an afterthought because the employees are too busy hanging out or effin' around.
I go there a lot and I've dropped quite a few dollars in there- but if I didn't already know them from Supergo, I'd have punched o few of them in the throat by now.

Every post like this makes me appreciate the shops in my area. I've bought my frames and components primarily on eBay or online, usually visit the shop for small parts and sometimes consumables if I'm in a pinch...they're always courteous, attend to me in a timely manner and generally treat me the way I want to be treated.
