Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I lost my twit. If I find any wit while I'm looking for my twit I'll send it this way.

I agree with the umd theory. His commentary usually generated additional interesting discussion (without quoting himself).

WTF? Have we lost all sense of humor, and irreverence on BF?

Somebody has to step step up to the plate and throw some **** into the fan.

I just don't pay enough attention. Sorry.

On the topic of Chopper - the strangest thing about him (sort of) is that the actor who played him in the bio-pic was Eric Bana in his first serious dramatic role. Bana was best known before then for a TV sketch comedy show and a character called "Poida" in particular. That really messes with my head.

I think there's something to the umd theory, not so much that his posts were humorous, but that when he was difficult, threads spun off in entertaining directions.

That and I think some people don't post, or post as much after he was banned.

I own a 1 iron and swing it, like all the other clubs, one-handed. I can indeed hit a 1 iron, I can even hit a golf ball with a 1 iron. ( note my attempt at wit)

I also yell "Fore" alot. (Not an attempt at wit)

TBH I think this place has gone down hill due to the increase of boring threads, CAAD threads, and people saying get the CAAD in every thread. Maybe because its winter and lots of people would rather just sit and talk about bikes online, than actually ride them. But goodness even if its cold outside, I'm still on the trainer. I briefly looked at the threads and I found SS/FG more interesting and that forum is just filled with college students being cheap on their fixed bikes and asking why they don't work. Even the track forum is more interesting and only gets a new post about every week.

maybe next time you say something witty and people are too blind to notice, you should add one of these.

I think the Brits would say "What are Monty Python?" They like to refer to entities with more than one member in the plural.

They say: "The Who are a talented rock and roll band."
We say: "The Who is a talented rock and roll band."

They're wrong, of course. Even if it is their language.

only an idiot would use a 1 iron when woods are so easy to use with modern clubs.

This. Not that I want to include myself in anything but let's face it I used to be a pretty prolific poster here and insist on sharp, dry wit. Been too busy. I still try to drop in every now and then, and it's not like the thread topics have changed it's just that there are less knowledgeable people coming forward to provide answers and the delivery used to be gold. Now it's "will this newb freak and get me banned - can't afford that."

As much as you can stand above when drawing attention from everyone - you DO require a couple of "straight men" to make your comedy truly shine. Old man.
