I use them. Very light weight specially if you have a low spoke count. Disadvantage is when changing tires/tubes, make sure they don't fall out. I popped a new tube coz one fell out.

This is why I use rim tape. I would rather have my wheels weigh 10g more than change two flats in a row

I don't sell many and while some people use them - many have tried and gone back to tape. Getting the right size is crucial. I don't have much of an opinion either way. They look nice when I take wheels to shows, but I don't personally ride on them.

I tried some in my Velocity rims, and my bike had a flat tire by the end of the day, just hanging up. My thoroughly-kneejerk reaction was OK, those are coming back out.
If you want something lightweight that stays put, you could also consider Stan's Yellow Tape. I use two wraps on the road bike, considering the extra tire pressure involved, and I believe that's what NoTubes is using in their road wheelsets too. Two wraps will be around 10-12 grams per wheelset.

Red Veloplugs work like a charm with Reynolds wheels. They're a very tight fit and haven't popped out on their own nor have they caused a tube to blow. Veloplugs are "plug and forget."
I'm not going back to tape. I'm set with Veloplugs.

I use Rox ultralight rim tape specifically because Veloplugs do not work good with my particular rims. Neither the red nor yellow plugs fit DT Swiss rims tightly enough to be reliably secure.
Wish they did, 'cuz sure seems more convenient than rim tape.

I have never heard a single person say that their Velox rim tape failed.
$3.95,
15 grams,
Never losing a plug on the side of the road, or having a spoke related flat, priceless.
