Recd damaged frame - is this rideable?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Recd damaged frame - is this rideable?

or not safe to ride?

I doubt that it is damage in transit, as the package was completely intact with no sign of damage, and the paint shows no damage either. Possibly a factory defective frame?

This is the Planet X Nanolight frame. Real bad luck, recd wrong colour as well as a damaged frame. Can't return as shipping from India is hugely expensive.

Have mailed Planet X and hope they come thru.

I'm not seeing the issue. Are you talking about the dimple in the seat tube? You know that's supposed to be there, yea?

Bikes: vintage steel bikes

Am I missing something? Are you sure it is damaged? I recall having seen frames that purposefully have a depression in the tube (looking like a dent) close to the front derailleur. It looks too symmetrical to be damaged.

In fact, I now had a look at planet-x website and you can see the same dent on a new frame:

That isn't damage. It's design.

The recess on the seat tube is to allow for fr der swing.

What about having the wrong color? You bought a bike in a certain color, you would think you want that color....

Besides the fact that it's designed in for the FD, Cf doesn't dent like that. If it were the result of a blow to the frame, there would be visible cracking,

Bikes: are better than yours.

That's a very pretty frame. On an unrelated note, Deepak have you ever posted ride pictures here? I'd love to see what road cycling in India is like.

We see a thread exactly like this every few months, they probably get one a week.

If I made frames, I'd have a sticker on that part that of the frame that says "Design, not dent".
