Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

After a thrilling day cleaning out the dozen or more flower beds at home I figured I would go for a 60 mile ride since the wind was picking up. I did really good for about 20 miles straight into the wind and then I took a wrong turn at one of these sad excuses for improvements WI has decided to try on their road system. It ended up getting dark so I turned around and only did 53 miles. They were the best 53 miles I have ridden since a Lincoln Towncar ran through my Team Miyata, though. Absolutely amazing the difference a marginal set of wheels can make.

I forgot to grab the video camera so I did not get any scenic video of the apple orchards and lake sides that made up the majority of my ride. Its guaranteed that it was more scenic than looking at something flat and pan shaped.

apple orchards make for great riding scenery.

This time of year, this far North, they are more spooky and seem to have a pall of death about them after they are pruned. It will be a couple weeks of warm weather before they have any green about them. The lakes on the other hand are stunningly beautiful with nothing growing in the ice cold water.

If I got lost on a solo ride I'm not sure if I would admit it on a public forum.

I could come by and teach you how to kick the **** out of fashion with them. The key is the pointy toes that could clean that tie off without touching a hair on the cat. Or clean the cat off of the tie if you are the type who always sees the glass as half empty.

I might be an easy target. I remember way back in the day hearing a computer guru recommend in a lecture that you should change your passwords every few weeks. I haven't changed most of mine in years, if at all.

That just seems wrong.

Hey twobadfish,

Can you really do 28 pull ups?

I tried again after volleyball and I couldn't do more than five proper ones in a row. I know my arms and upper body are pathetically weak, but that's a ridiculous contrast.

You only change it regularly because you forget it and have to reset it.
