Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I used to work with a surgical tech from West Virginia who raised wolf hybrids. On the way home any new road kill, dead deer, possums etc were gathered for the wolfs. A pretty little thing she was and I could never quite put the picture together. One day she made the mistake of walking into the kennel with a limp and was immediately attacked. Her wolf raising days ended shortly after.

I had an exciting day today. Spent the morning at a low key photo shoot with a fairly well known motorcycle engineer, and then when I got home we started up the Fiat and drove over to the dealership to look at new ones.

We wandered around the lot for a while, and nobody came out to greet us, so we just left without a test drive. In true form, (never drive it further than you're willing to push it back home again) one of the pipes of the motor to the exhaust disintegrated (again, it was held together with some clamps) so she got a little noisy. She made it though. I have parts to order. The stink of old Fiat has just now worn off my clothes.

I was surprised that a bunch of the cars on the lot had sold signs on them.

Save some money...buy regular yogurt and some cheese cloth. Line a large strainer with the cheese cloth and dump in the yogurt. Put the strainer over a bowl to catch the whey, cover with more cheese cloth and leave in the fridge overnight. Depending on how "dry" you like it determines how much you drain...but my wife usually goes for about 12 hours.

I'm surprised that they didn't want to check out your car.

I don't think they even noticed us until we were leaving. I thought they weren't actually open yet because the place seemed totally abandoned.

There was a guy that showed up to look around on the lot and walked over as we were leaving who got all stoked and said "Awesome! You have a real one!"

What would you like to discuss? Have you picked out a TT course yet, or are you avoiding it?

You know what else is too much time and effort? Riding bicycles.

Soon, it will be farmers' market season. I will be riding my bicycle there to buy yogurt.

Negative, riding bicycles is the reason why making yogurt is too much time and effort.

Ribble had the best price I saw - $70 and change for both. I haven't ordered from them before, so we'll see how long shipping takes.

Just saw the first tandem bike of the season pass by my house. Nice day. It might hit 50 today.

Bikes: everywhere

I once again walked out of Fred Meyer's without purchasing the $240 tandem on their floor. I'm somewhat scared of its Kent/Pacific nature, but still tempted at that price point.

Anyways, partly cloudy and 40 degrees I'm gonna roll out for a 1.25 hour ride, gorge on Nutella/strawberry crepes and strong coffee, then brave the 20 minute grind up the hill back home.

Oh, and hit the True Value for an axle nut for my trailer.

Happy Sunday everyone!!!
