Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah.. not what I was thinking of. Very nice yard though.

I was thinking of these

Hydrangeas. They completely die when winter comes and grow back to very lush beautiful bushes in the spring. And both cycles happen quickly. Very easy to care for and enjoyable to observe (especially when it rains).

A lot of cycling apparel is pretty ridiculous.

The apple tree just started blossoming this week (it's late this year). The tulips look nice though.

Well, if we're doing spring flower pics (all are linked to 1920 pixel wide resolution) -

The Wisteria is flowering (the Azaleas [a type of Rhododendron], at right, are flowering, too) -

A field of Spanish Bluebells -

...and the cherries were at their peak about 10 days ago -

Texas Bluebonnets. I'd like to find this road. This season's flowers are gone now but it was a good year.

Hell if I know - I'm a Minnesota boy. The Lady Slipper is the MN state flower, but I only saw 2 or 3 of 'em when I lived there.

edit - wow, NY went rather pedestrian with their state flower selection: the rose.

The official state insect is the Ladybug. We have plenty of those at our place.

Lowcel, I would go for the Fulcrum/Campagnolo option over Mavic as well. At one point this Spring a custom built set of AC 420 Aero rims with a boutique hub and Sapim racer spokes had my consideration for an everyday wheelset. I seem to remember the rims being slightly wide so a 700x24 tire was quite secure on it.

So Jen, do you always opt out of the radiation naked body scanners for the enhanced pat down? Just curious, I'll never go through one of those.

There are roses blooming nearby. Had I had a camera on my persons, I might have taken a photo earlier this week.

Ah, the Coccinella septempunctata. Our states have a common tie.

Also, the firefly is a state insect. They should start appearing anytime now. They're awesome. In the Smokies a breed synchronizes their flashes. People travel from afar to watch them.

Nothing beats an enhanced pat down. I wonder if they offer Happy Endings with those?

You should ask about that, next time you're at the airport.
