As the saying goes, your mileage may vary. I use mainly warm water and mild dish soap with lots of time to soak. Pretty much exactly the opposite of what you want to do with simple green. It is very much a carry over from my mountain biking routine in that I needed to clean everything every time I rode in dirty conditions. I doubt your Colnago sees much exposure to salt melted snow mixed with washer fluid and sand in below freezing temps.

Looks like the sale is going through finally.

The drug shortages are getting crazy. I doubt this will help anything short term.
I am no buisness man, and I know there are tons of variables. But it seems to me that paying 112 million for a site that has annual revenue of 180 million that was purchased for 305 million in 2002 seems like am absurdly good deal?

There was of course a slow accumulation of pressure and heat hardened crud so I ended up trying a citrus degreaser for sporadic use to eliminate it. As the VN article took a swipe at the science I should point out that using a nearer to neutral PH cleaner, such as mild dish soap, with more elbow grease was my daily plan of attack. By soaking I am referring to repeated dowsing over the course of an hour such as is needed to dissolve mud or the drying agents in road salt.

My other bikes and all of my mountain bikes have seen all kinds of crappy conditions. I raced mountain bikes for a few years before I became a roadie.I figured out the other day that I have owned over 30 bikes in the past ten years or so, none of them were ever babied. Some of my roadies have even seen single track action.

I don't soak my chains in Simple Green. Occasionally I will put one in a coke bottle, shake it up for a minute or two then take it out. Normally I just spray some simple green on the greasy spots of my frame, on the brake tracks, on the derailleurs, chainrings, and cassette, then I use a Park Chain scrubber filled with simple green. Once I finish with the chain scrubber I take a brush to the cassette, derailleurs, and chainrings. I take a soapy rag to the frame and wheels, rinse all and done.Takes about 5 - 10 minutes to have a bike that looks like new, with the exception of my white bar tape.

Thanks for posting that, mvnsnd. It was interesting to read the Simple Green marketing specialist comment on the issue. She probably had a hand in how they're marketing it now - Extreme Simple Green Motorsports. Covers everything from watercraft to bikes to airplanes.

In other news, this is a good stem at a good price, if you're in the market. I used the 26 version for years.

Thanks, I didn't even know there was an extreme version.

I would rather clean my tape on a regular basis than wrap my bars. That is one thing that is worth paying to get done.

Being a non moving part that was sprayed with a wet mix of stuff daily, I never bothered and was thrilled to see it look good as new over a year in. This was especially exciting considering the amount of crashes that resulted in slides over 50 feet that I had.
