New Giro Helmet: "Aeon"

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

But you'd still have .3 lbs on your head.
And is it better?
That's subjective.
To you? Probably not.

To me, I had no problem paying more for a helmet I found to be "better" than my $40. helmet.
Every time I use it, I benefit from it being better than my $40. helmet (something I'd be missing if I didn't buy it).

I'm not knocking the Prolight at all, but for me at least, there is more than one criteria than just absolute lightness.
I'll definitely try on a Prevail before I buy another helmet. It's getting great reviews.
For me, the Prolight was not only lighter, but it was WAYYYY more comfortable than my current helmet at the time.
Besides all of that, I loved it's "look". It was a win/win/win situation for me
(and I got if for about $129./shipped which wasn't too bad IMO).

As I have mentioned, I have both an Ionos and Prolight so am not defending my choice of having bought one or the other. In my case I was referring to comfort, especially on longer rides, not a speed benefit. 1/4 lb on the bike will have no effect on comfort, but on the top of your head, it can.

Colin Chapman, btw, is/was one of my heroes.
