Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Cervelo S3, Pinarello Dogma F8, Santa Cruz Bronson

I only ride so that I can eat w/o getting too fat

I am so vain that I think I need and benefit from riding an $5,000 bike (just so I know for sure that any poor performance is due to my office butt, lack of excersice and the 10extra lbs I carry)

I keep eying up "comfort frames" despite being comfortable already on my R3 (just in case that 20mm taller head tube on the RS would make the riding feel more like sitting on m couch)

I pedal extra hard only when I get the joy of breezing by "fatties on comfort bikes" at 25mph, only to get back to my normal 17mph type pace when they are out of sight

I have a quarter-size hole in the butt of one of my bib shorts. I refuse to get rid of them because I'm too cheap. I still use them regularly on the trainer.

I am not good enough for my last bike purchase... and I am pretty sure the bike knows it.
I have stopped the renovation on my master bath because it is warm and I want to spend that money on bike stuff.
I eat way more than I should.
I would rather replace a tire way before it's life is up than risk getting a flat. .. as in every 1-1,200 miles.

I yell at cyclists who run stop signs, and I run stop signs (unless there are other cyclists around, so I don't feel like a hypocrite).

I ride on the sidewalk as well as the road, if I can save a few seconds.

I'm becoming a weight weenie even though I scoffed at the idea 6 months ago. I'm attempting to build a 6kg CAAD10 after coming off an 8kg S5.

I'm also thinking of becoming a triathlete to mask my mediocre cycling skills, and to impress my colleagues.

Me too. It's also a good exercise in keeping your line.

This music starts playing in my head whenever someone (child on a trike, octagenarian on a motorized wheelchair, drunk toting a six pack, etc) appears in bike lane ahead of me.

Sadly I never get to test my SCR chops because I think I'm the only person in town who rides in the correct direction in the bike lanes.

When I have my dark shades on, I use my ninja skills to intensely check out the ladies on the MUP without turning my head. On a few occasions, I've been busted doing this out of habit while I had much lighter lenses in.

In cleaning my drivetrain yesterday, discovered that I was using an 8 speed Powerlink on a 9 speed chain.

I did not change it.

I fixed this problem a few weeks ago, but now have some serious razor burn on the back side of my knees. My legs look gnarly now, veins pop like I've never seen before!!!!

I wasn't sure when to stop shaving. So, I stopped when I got high enough to be exciting and dangerous.

So when do I tell the girl I'm seeing that I shave my legs?

With any luck, you will soon be in a position for her to discover it on her own

Roll with it.

valygrl, will you adopt me and buy me cycling things?

I'm afraid to go test ride a bike at my LBS because I'm afraid I won't be able to leave without it.
