Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: Caad 9.5, Madone 6 series, Speed Concept 7 series.

- When i started cycling I made fun of guys wearing lycra, but now i love wearing super tight clothing, and feel ridiculous if i have to ride in running shorts.

- I feel self-conscious about my weight when cycling with others(i'm not fat, 5'9" 160lbs- coming down from 190ish but i'm still the fatty of the group)

- I love riding, can hold my own on the flats, but can't climb to save my life. The moment I see a hint of a hill, I freeze.

- I would love to be a triathlete but i can't swim to save my life. I took my first swimming lesson approximately 3 months ago and I'm well north of 20 years of age.

- Both of my bikes are WAY too much bike for my ability but i still feel the urge to upgrade them.

- I just got an aero helmet for my next Tri and I look ****ing ridiculous with it on.

- I have a final tomorrow morning and should probably study for the remainder of the evening, but i say F u, professional ethics, I will do my weekly TT at 6pm today and not feel bad about the two hour commitment.

- I have still not learned to adjust either derailleur. =(

I shoot in the mid 70s with my old 1985 vintage Ping Eye 2s... wish I could say the same about my own engine for my biking.

My lips are sealed.

Besides, as the widely recognized Pope of BF, I should be hearing your confessions. But why bother? You will find no Fred absolution here.

Bikes: Specialized Allez Elite 2010

-I have only been riding for 2 1/2 years and I am looking at my 3rd road bike (not including the MTB I bought in that time period)
-I have not been on a ride longer than 67 miles and it was for charity
-I lost weight the same way Jennifer Hudson did, but I wish I could attribute it to riding
-I want to hang out in my LBS just to BS about bike stuff cause my friends, wife and co-workers are probably sick of hearing me talk more about riding than riding.
-I'm a fat cyclist (173), but 20 lbs lighter than before Jennifer Hudson's plan.

Bikes: Have two wheels

I still ride a Schwinn.

My other bike is also 20 years old with a steel frame.

I don't use the edit function to add content - I just make a new post.

I gave up on a ride today because I felt too cold. It was 50 degrees.

I have more than doubled my rides from last year this week (3 vs. 1).
I have been away from BF for the entire time.
I am feeling guilty that my schedule for this evening kept me from riding, and the next two days look no better.
I am WAY to fat for this sport, but I have an excuse for being slow.

My bike is worth less than the wheels on my car.

As a fat cyclist, I can assure you it is related to the use of a snow shovel to put food in one's mouth.

I spend entirely too much time researching obscure bike parts so I am a real pain in the ass to bike stores who then get my barrage of questt.

I like riding a bike that cost more than 1/2 the cars I pass out there

I just got a bike fit and may flip the stem back over because I hate the way it looks

I use this forum to feel good about myself because of the number of stupid things said on here

I use psychological warfare like pouting to get my wife to cave in to all my bike purchases

I think biking is like golfing - there isn't anything wrong with my game new equipment won't cure

- I live in an area where there is but a rumor of another rider, thus I train alone all the time. I tend t think of myself in a pro race, depending on the weather, ride and time of year. Last week I rode a long, windy, overcast ride on some crappy roads...so I imagined I was off the front in Paris-Roubaix. I even do commentary in my head.

- I can't stand to throw away bike parts. I have a storage container in the garage full of things like handlebars, saddles, stems, etc.

- I will schedule rides in the summer to be able to maximize my cyclists tan because I like it.

- If I eat healthy and train I can't lose weight. The only way I lose weight is to eliminate meals. The last time I was at my best racing weight I was eating a light breakfast, some gels and bars on rides (as needed) and a salad and some snaking for dinner. My issue now is that my wife is a good cook and we are trying to teach our sin that family meals are good so I can't skip dinner.

- I am too fat for bike racing, but it is only my upper body. My legs are pretty cut, but I have a gut.

- I love to look at my legs in the mirror and sometimes I flex just to see the striations.

- I am Jewish and always hated the stereotype about Jews being cheap. I used to spend money like it was burning a hole in my pocket. Now I am married and have a kid and I do a weeks worth of searching the web to get the best price on one bike part.
