Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There are tons of threads on this subject all over the internet forums. Do I little searching/research and you'll find everything you want to know. In the end, you get what you pay for and in the case of the generic carbon rims, typically not a warranty, or at least not a warranty that won't cost you additional shipping costs.

Why not get deep section alu clinchers like H Plus Son 42 or something and put Zipp/HED/Reynolds/etc stickers on them?

Britton Kusiak. Local racer, shop owner and all around nice guy. He's building wheels right now and has a pretty good deal going. He's riding these himself. He'll answer calls and e-mails. Check out 05/22/11 blog post: https://bkusiak.blogspot.com/
