Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Campy has done this with Centaur too.

Oooh. Ahhh.

If they'd make a 50-36-26 triple I'd crap my pants. Is it really that hard to do something new, interesting, and useful?

They should do something really bold and anodize the whole groupset purple.

No surprise here, as 6600 Ultegra became available in 6601 Ice Grey.

It's not a big deal, but really, they are going to have to do a "black" set of everything they make -- and probably eventually a white group for each level, as well. As white will probably be the next big thing.

Sram, at least it seems to me, is really coming on SUPER strong and it looks like hard times for Shimano to compete. The Double-Tap and Exact Actuation shifting tell a good story and one that targets Shimano's main weaknesses. I'm going to guess that they'll find a way to leap frog Sram but I can hardly see how right now.

Are you trying to tow your car over mountain passes or do you enjoy turning 155 rpm?

They actually made a white group a long time ago.

https://www.disraeligears.co.uk/Site/...001_LS%29.html

So I guess Shimano invented this whole 'coloured groupset' thing.

Because it's conflict of interest, apparently Shimano is invested in other, "better" BB patents.

So, we can have "glossy gray" and "glossy gray"? Because I think the current 6700 could be called "glossy gray", too.

Or is it because the current color is "glossy grey"?

You mean like the MTB race scene in the early 90's?

Why don't you just try SRAM Apex compact crankset with a 12-32 cassette?

Its more about being able to run a nice narrow cassette without the huge gaps of an 11-32, but still having low gears. An 11-21 becomes an 11-27, an 11-23 becomes an 11-30, an 11-25 becomes an 11-32, etc.

See? NOBODY GETS IT!

Because those huge gaps in gearing feel bad and wouldn't let me do threshold rides on back to back days.

I rode 50-40-30x13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21 in the 8 speed era. Same low gear as 53-39x13-14-15-17-19-21-23-26 for the mountains but with nice spacing for the plains.

If I wanted a gear as low as 34x32 today it'd be in the form of 50-39-24x13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23-26 10 speed or 46-36-24x12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23-25 with 11 cogs.

"Glossy Gray"?

Muted Neon Lime must be next.
