Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Editing Garmin activity data.

On a recent ride, I apparently started the timer on my Garmin 800 several nights before while still connected to my computer. The result is a 97 hour-long trip. Does anyone know of a way to edit that data to remove the approximately 94 hours of inactivity that precedes the actual ride?

I believe there is an extremely complicated way to do it, by editing the data file.

Bikes: are better than yours.

You're just trying to artificially boost your average speed aren't you?

PS: If you're successful, tell me how you do it.

I kinda figured that much and tried editing the file with a text/html editor... but Garmin Connect won't let me upload the modified document.... clearly I'm missing something there. :/

Garmin already makes this very easy. From the activity detail click on the pencil to the right of the Summary. Then just type in your desired distance, average speed, average power, etc. into the appropriate fields.
