It's like that pull-o-meter on Versus where they tell you who's doing all the work in the breakaway.

I had two Progress moments today. First me and my pal Erich the Former Fast Cat 2 Who Got Old & Gained 30 lbs. are chatting on the (nearly empty 6:30AM) MUP. We're about to start our interval workout, the first 5 miles or so are on the MUP. We come up on this guy we've seen on the MUP before, a reasonably fast Fred. Those are the most dangerous kind. Anyway, I turn to Erich as we're about to start out interval session (about 13-14 miles of trading 2 minute pulls as if we're in a 2-man break, hard workout) I ask 'are you ready to go?' He nods. I turn to this fast Fred and say 'OK, nice seeing you, we gotta go', and I dial it up to 25 mph. I half expected him to try to grab our wheel, but when I turned around to flick my elbow half a mile later, he was out of sight.
Then on the one long-ish upgrade (maybe half a mile of 3-5%) I gapped Erich pretty hard. He's very fast on the flats, the extra weight kills him on upgrades longer than 300 meters or so.
That interval session I do with Erich is great, we're good training partners, we both agree we'd never ride that hard on our own.

No, more like that scene from "The color of Money" where the pool champ is sinking one after another to Tom Cruises dismay and looks over and says to him " It's like your worst nightmare, and you can't do anything about it...it just keeps getting worse". The only thing more pathetic than your 46 % posts on this ridiculous thread is me counting them up.

It's hot here. I like it. I sweated like Whooshy in a steam bath this AM.
I get my leg ultra sounded on Thursday, we'll see how much of that clot remains at that time. My doc today said
it can take several months for a leg like mine to act normal again. Oh well. Doesn't hurt.

Tomorrow night will be a different story. ~50 miles depending on route with temps every bit as high as today with an earlier ride start. Wednesday evening is the hardest ride in the area and should be pretty epic.

Progress. World Fred Wed Night OCBC (Orange County Bike Club) Championships Times:
June 14th: 17:10
July 6th: 15:50
July 20th (tonight): 15:34
6.1 mile course.
Tonight a girl beat me by about a minute. This sport is humiliating on so many levels. Therein lies the Zen. It's paradox within an oxymoron. The participants are the morons of course.

Yeah, her time on that course would work out to about 25 mph average speed, so that's very fast for an amateur woman. She looked serious, TT bike, disc wheel, aero helmet. I didn't have my aero helmet you know. That must have been it. That and the mini pot belly I carry around so I can look more like you.

Like I said at the big TT's I do (the real USA Cycling races) the fastest amateur women are faster than me. I think that turns them on.

Today marks 38 consecutive days on the road bike. Explain this whole 'rest day' concept to me again.

Hey Pcad,
You should go on the Puerto Rican Girlfriend Taco Diet. Im loosing weight that way.
Im riding hard, have some good tacos and looking good. When Ive made some good tacos she says to me "Oi Papi thats a good taco Oi !"
You need to get yourself a Puerto Rican girlfriend. She'll keep you well fed and thin.
