10-speed handlebars?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Better send me the entire shifters. You can't be too safe.

So if I put a triple crankset on a 3-speed, I'll never be able to find the right bars?

And thus they're more ergonomic on the bars the OP has. Install old 8sp style and you dont get that flat transition from bar to lever. I guess the shop was right, they just didnt explain it.

Reminds me of when I worked for a hardware store and a regular came in and noticed our two energetic trainees at the practice register. He asked where the elbow grease was and they merrily took out their handy guide and after a few moments announced that lubricants were in aisle 16. I was laughing uncontrollably as he walked past me and said "Glad I didn't ask for a left-handed monkey wrench".

I think the ~0' indication at the right on the second "not recommended" is a mistake: it should be ~ 0 cm (to the 3-5cm in the "recommended" picture).

Yes, except the angle at the right of the second "not recommended" is, I believe, a mistake (it should be ~ 0 cm to correspond to the 3-5cm in the "recommended" picture).

well, now its clear as mud!
