Cycling Goals for August

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Training to finish the Cool Breeze Double Metric on 8/20 in 6:30 or less.
I know I can do it right now if the wind isn't too bad, but we shall see.

Because of the route, distance or because of the time? If it's time of day, a good set of lights make any commute possible.

Nothing specific. Just ride as much as possible.

That would be nice ... you're going to have to post pics when you do it.

No real goals. I just started a new job this week after being out of "regular" work for almost three years. I'm getting ready to finish my first week of 4 weeks of training. After the training, my time to ride is going to drop a lot, so I'd just like to get out there and do what I can in the remaining three weeks.

I just want to get back on my bike... August 1st seems like an ambitious goal but here's hoping...

Aaaaand it would be nice to ride more miles in Aug than I have in any other month so far this year but that really wouldn't take much.

I've squandered my 2011 riding season so far

Mostly the route (20 miles from suburbs into the city) and I'm going to be working 60-70 hour weeks for at least two months. Joy.

My cycling goal for August is to ride my freaking bike more. Between my new job taking over my life and my girlfriend still needing attention, I've been seriously deprived of riding my bike. I'm lucky if I can ride once a week lately. Really sucks looking at a $5k bike and not being able to ride it. I'd ride 6 hours a day, every day if I had it my way. My gf is moving out of my apartment at the beginning of August to go back home and finish up her last semester of college. I hate to say it, but the upside to this is I will have more time to ride my bike since I will be on my own schedule 24/7 (when I'm not working).

Cycling Goals for August. Though I've done seemingly hundreds of century rides, raced and raced well for many years and have few things left related to road cycling to aim for, August will be super memorable.

Goal 1: Stand along the time trial course and act like a fool as teams Garmin Cervelo, BMC Racing, Saxo Bank, Liquigas Cannondale, HTC Highroad and others race by.

Goal 2: Ride from the fan-lined start of stage 4 to a reserved spot along the route where we can act like fools as the pro peloton passes.

Goal 3: Find a climb along stage 5 that I can run up along side the breakaway in some foolish outfit.

Goal 4: ...

Oh yeah, there's this Copper Triangle ride and Leadville 100 mtb race going on to keep things interesting.

That's about what we've been doing through June and July ... the darkness and chill of winter has been keeping us indoors during the week.
