Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Where do you get your jerseys/shorts?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a second pair of cycling shorts (not bibs) and jersey, but not willing to spend a load at Performance or the LBS. However, I would prefer things of good quality, so my max would be in the $80 range for both. Is there a certain site you order your stuff from with good deals (including shipping?) Thanks!

I got lots of cycling clothes via ebay. You can get lots of new stuff inexpensively if you're patient.

I know you don't want to use PB but to be honest if you wait for the periodic sales you can get a pair of ultra (top of the line) shorts for 40 bucks or bibs for 50 bucks. These are the best "budget" shorts/bibs out there IMO.

^This.

Right now, they have Century shorts for $30 and Elite shorts for $50. Plus four different short sleeve jerseys for under $30. I have two pair of Elite bibs and a couple of their Century III jerseys and they work great.

I'm a fan of the DHB products at Wiggle.co.uk. I have 3 pairs of their bib shorts, a set of bib tights and a base layer and they have all been great. If you're patient they have a 20% sale every month or two.

I have purchased bicycle clothing from ...

Nashbar
MEC
Decathlon
Anaconda
Chain Reaction Cycles
Wiggle
Torpedo 7
Ground Effects
Sierra Trading Post

and occasionally bicycle shops when they've got something on sale.

I have rarely paid more than about $30 for a jersey and $40 for shorts.

Try love2pedal.com and aerotechdesigns.com if you are on a budget.

Voler.com. There are better deals but I like their Elite bibs a lot.

Ok, sounds good. About how frequent are their periodic sales, and are you still referencing "probikekit.com"?

Is it the general case for all these sites that they're to be purchased from when they have their own "periodic sale" going? Thanks for all the info!

Also check REI. They had some of their Novara shorts a few days ago for $35 and I grabbed a nice Zoic jersey for $30. Dittos on the PB (Performance Bike) and there are some jerseys @ Nashbar for $20.

I think he was referencing performancebike.com. That's who I was referring to, and the prices I mentioned are there right now:

Voler is what I ride with. Not the cheapest, but I think pretty reasonable given the quality. Customer service is great and they usually give discounts to first time buyers.

I like Descente Prologue bibs, and can usually find them for around $60.00.
