Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

lol.

Just converted the cross bike to single speed, well actually it converted itself 1/2 way through the first lap Sunday. I just removed the rear derailleur, and most of the gears. This means I know have an extra Force rear derailleur sitting around now. That can only mean one thing..... another bike must come to life to make use of it. I see a TT bike in my future.

youre doing it wrong. Elitest apple owners just buy new when the old no longer works.

I am not an elitist. It wasn't my iPod, and I am not a big Apple fan anyway. I just an iPhone, and an iPod, out of necessity. iPod runs the tunes in the truck, connected to my Pioneer Navi system, and iPhone is capable of ordering burritos, while on the bike.

Are you calling a burrito shop or do you have some super awesome burrito app?

Calling Apple users 'elitists' strikes me as incredibly silly for a number of reasons. I've been one since 1984. Hell, I have Apple crap older than some of you idiots.

Back in 1984 I was a young car salesman, and I wanted a PC to do customer/sales prospect follow up. All the computers I was looking at were text based systems from the earliest era of PC's, like the Kaypro. Then Apple announced the Mac. I took one look at the graphical user interface, figured that's how all computers would inevitably be, and bought a 128K Mac. Since then the only store that can make me feel like a kid walking into FAO Schwartz is an Apple Store. Steve was an artist who understood how to make technology accessible and likable for people; that was his unique vision.

He will be missed. He made the world a better place.

I have to admit, there isn't a PC store out there that can touch the Apple stores...remember Gateway PC...the cow boxes...ughh.
If I'm in a city with an Apple store I make sure to drop in. They are toy stores, so much that I visited the one in Waikiki as much as I did the beach and eventually bought my first MacBook pro there...2% tax was the decision maker. If theres a store in NYC anybody should go visit its their flagship apple store. amazing.

Sent Verizon Wireless an e-mail.

I am a new customer and so far I am not overly happy with the way things have been going. I switched to Verizon from AT&T after being with them for about 13 years. I switched because I want to try the 4g, other than that I was happy with AT&T.

On to my story. So far I have spent 14 1/2 hours with Verizon attempting to have service. Three out of four of my phones work. 75% may be passing in school, but to me it is unacceptable, especially since I am out of town on business the next four days and my wife has no phone (no land line either).

To start with I went to a local Verizon store, after being there for a while I figured out that they are a franchise and not a company store. Their prices were about 25% higher so I left. I next went to a company owned store. I signed in, waited about 40 minutes while watching them continually skip over me and go to others that would walk in. That was enough for me, I walked out and went to Best Buy. The people at Best Buy were amazing, however no matter how long they stayed on the phone with Verizon they could not get my Droid Bionic activated.

With my wife's phone we thought it was activated but come to find out we were wrong. At first she could dial out and send and receive texts. After several hours dealing with Verizon, and a new phone, it is nothing more than a paper weight.

Here is a breakdown of the 14 1/2 hours I have spent since Sunday attempting to have phone service through Verizon. At this point I am ready to return all four of my phones and go back to AT&T. Is there anything you can do to keep me as a customer?

Verizon Store (non-company) 30 minutes
Verizon Store (company) 40 minutes - no service from employees
Best Buy - 5.5 hours trying to get new phones and service activated
Verizon call - 1.5 hours getting my droid activated
Best Buy - 1.5 hours getting data transfered from iphone to droid
Verizon call -2 hours trying to get wife's phone activated
Best Buy - 3 hours
