Did you have to fix or repair it daily?

His 50mm clinchers were pretty impressive. They were actually nicer than I thought they'd be. Not mine, but I took a photo.

Chances are still pretty good I wont get one though. Our next four (six?) wheel vehicle purchase is probably going to be an RV.

My Lexus actually had an MSRP of $32,112. You can easily buy a Prius that's pricier than that. Hell, my wife's Prius IV was 30,800 MSRP (approx) and it's not a top of the line car. You can load up the Prius and get the car over $35K. I think if you put every silly option on my car you can get it over $40K, but the dealer told me that 90% of the cars he gets are at the price mine sold for, and they are selling like hotcakes @ that price level.

Every thread comes down to a discussion about cars. People care about cars. Nobody cares about cycling.

And for those that say the mileage doesn't pay, here is some simple math. 17,000 miles to date at 50 MPG average = 340 gal at $3.50/gal = $1,190. Compare that to the Land Rover I had before that: 17,000 miles at 15 MPG average = 1133 gal at $3.50/gal = $3,996. You draw your own conclusions!

is 80g worth the difference in aero benefit from the firecrest 404 which is said to be as aero as the previous 808. I only interject because I myself am coveting some 404's that i might get for a steal

We're very happy with our Prius/Lexus combo. Jury is out on snow performance, we'll have to see how both cars do with full sets of Blizzak WS-70 tires, but I'm not that concerned. Those Blizzaks have morphed every other awful-in-the-snow car I've ever owned into a Virtual 4x4, and we live on the hill that makes you prove that (Mt. Doom). Trust me on this latter point. 18% grades coming up here that are sometimes unplowed and a sheet of friggin ice until our plow guy and the salt has a chance to clear it out and soften it up. We like the Prius so much we're actually considering leasing another (we need a third car). But we do need to throw snow tires on the Prius and see how it does on the first snowfall coming up this hill first.

Cars with the right Blizzak tires won't do that. Those WS-70's are like Snow Spiderman Sticky Feet for your car on snow and ice. You have to drive them to believe them. I've had a couple of pairs (along with a couple of other brands of winter tire). The Blizzaks don't have quite the tread life or performance of some other winter tires, but they are by far the stickiest you can buy, and that's what we'll get for the Lexus and the Prius in the next month or so.
People are utterly clueless about two aspects of car ownership: mpg's and winter tires. Anyone who says to me 'I have 'all season' tires' is telegraphing their cluelessness to the world. There is NO such thing as 'All Season' in tires. There are winter tires, and there are non-winter tires. Living up here, you want winter tires on your car if it's not a 4 x 4. Four of them.
