Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

hey ijen - do you regret taking the decals off your Assaults, or do you not care because you don't ride them anymore?

I think they look slightly better without the decals. If I had the 2011 models, I would take the decals off before I even got them home.

Pcad's High Blood Pressue Crisis™ may be over soon. I just got a reading of 129/85 (resting pulse 49) which is in the normal range, if not ideal. I see my doctor about this Friday, hoping he gets a similar reading. I really don't want to go on BP meds. It has been trending down. Watching the salt. Getting skinnier. Feeling GREAT on the bicycle lately. A skinny Pcad is a happy Pcad.

Without cycling I'd weigh 200lbs, my waist would be 40 inches, and my BP would be 230/140.

At least you're not debating that downhill skiing is stupid.

Bastige. I need 10mg of Quinaprill daily to get down to that reading. And I only weigh 75kg. And watch my salt and fat intake. Are you at concentraction camp skinny yet?

Hardly. I'm about 178 lbs. That's 10 lbs over Pcad Race Weight®. I already feel great on the bike @ this weight. But now I have much bigger motivation to get down another 5-10 lbs. I really don't want to take BP meds. Hell, I get down to <175, my BP will be 120/80 or lower. If I ever get down to 170 those 33 morons would never, ever, EVER drop me. As a matter of fact if I get down to 175 and I'm reasonably fit I'll be around for them to yell at me until the last lap every time. And it will help with the TT's. Hell, I may even be able to help my team in their races. And I'll be the oldest idiot in the race.

Herbie, and SBXX, bikes look good. The Red-ification was definitely a good choice, Herbie. SBXX you need an ENVE fork, post, and wheels now.

It isn't a knockoff frame, and Herbie had the Zipps before he bought the November.

I am going to assume you said this out of complete ignorance and help you understand. This is a good write up of what a November is. It is quite worthy of both the shoes and the Red.

My BP is ranging pretty normal today. 125-128 over 85-90 all day. That's really borderline high. Not particularly something your doctor would prescribe meds to control. He'd tell you to lay off the pizza, cigarettes and beer. Which I'm already doing.

OK, I do still scarf a Domino's pizza once every couple of weeks.

Blasphemer!!! Besides, it is real hard to face plant a tree when riding wide, open, treeless, powder-filled bowls...

Hey PCad, where do you ski mostly? Just curious...

I've skiied all over Vermont and Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, but now I'm not so into the travel/cost, I stay close to home, mostly hit Hunter Mtn and Mt. Peter (the latter a tiny 400 vertical foot hill 10 miles from my house). I may get up to Vermont this winter for a couple of days @ Stratton/Bromley/Sugarbush/Stowe with some friends. I'm a pretty good skier but my bump banger days are over. Love the steeps, love powder, I like skiing hard and fast. I'd be much better if I had easier access to serious terrain and conditions (i.e. the kind of varied snow/powder/junk you get out west more than here in the NE). I used to head out west for ten days every winter. My favorite ski resorts out west were Grand Targhee, Alta, Snowmass. Never skied CA, I'd like to ski the Sierras some day.

I've had some pretty good days on skis.

Can't you find better pizza than Domino's? Even on their adds over here their pizza's and pasta look unapetising compared to their competition.
