Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Roadie Perfection

I'm on my really nice bike, with some good friends and it's a beautiful day.

The wind is at our backs and the cars and trucks wait and move over for us. The road is newly laid asphalt and goes gently downhill for 100 (kms or miles, pick one) and

Then my alarm clock goes off.

Hahahaha i guEss perfection is subjective.

For me near perfection is a mix of good looks and great performance. When yOu ride a fast organized well sPec paceline, when a rider passes you looking tight making yOu chase and get better.

Balance, experience, performance and looking sharp!

i had a roadie dream as well last night...I swear I'm not making this up...i woke up angry. 1. somebody scratched my new bike....2. i was going down hill and there were a ton of runners in my way...3. there were clip on aero bars for some reason...I tried to go in to the aero position for some reason but the bike shrank on me...like the top tube was only 80cm long...4. i could not for the life of me get clipped in....amazingly i did not crash and then I woke up...

I'm pretty sure all this just means I'm hungry...because right now...I'm hungry

The e.e. cummings Effect

That's a great dream. I had a day like that yesterday in real life. Motorists even waved at me as they waited for me to pass before turning right. There was no traffic for eight miles on Nevada Ave., did my best 5 mile TT. It was sweet.

Now I am hungry, too.

Since I don't dream of riding, it must be I'm not hardcore enough into 41. Come on REM cycle!

Shouldn't the OP begin with "Dear Bike Forums...I never thought this would happen to me..." ?

If it were an UPHILL instead of a downhill, I would have agreed (ok, maybe not for 100 miles!)

Downhills are a big waste of training time, IMO.

Much like the careers of the Jersey Shore cast, this thread has no potential and is doomed to fail miserably.

I'm no head doctor, but I'm pretty sure there's something Freudian there.

THAT would actually be worries of someone stealing your girlfriend. (at least that's what you need to tell her if she ever finds out you're dreaming of your bike instead of her. UNLESS she's the one stealing your bike . . . . AND THAT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT PROBLEM)

The top tube shrank to 80cm? Were you riding a tandem?
