Would you build up a Caad10 5?
Would you build up a Black Caad10 5? Would you invest in this frame? Or would you go out and buy a Cervelo S2 with the money?
For those of you who HAVE built up your Caad10 5, pics would be fantastic.
For those of you who wouldn't dare... why not?

I have one and will soon replace the wheels.
I chose it as the best bike for my money ($1350 or so). A few thousand miles later the bike has a new seat and that is it. The way I see it, for my purposes, the frame is kick ass and many locals are racing them with better components. Good enough for a spirited commute and longer weekend rides.

I have a Caad9 5 and the first thing to go was the brakes (upgraded to Ultegra). I swapped out the bars when I needed tape for the flat top FSA's found on the Supersix (with the compact drop). I really wanted to get a Fizik Airone and waited till CC had them for $57 bucks shipped (still getting used to it). Lastly, I came into some "found money" and bought Krysium Elites. I'm debating upgrading the drivetrain (to Ultegra) but won't do it for quite some time. I'm really fond of the Caad frame and happy that mine says Built in the USA. Until I can find a cheap Supersix frame with the same Built in the USA on the rear triangle, I will not consider upgrading.

A friend of mine has a caad 8 5, he upgraded the wheels to ksyrium elites and the crank to an fsa sl-k light. Go for whichever you feel you'll be happier with, the upgrades or the complete new bike.

I made literally the same choice just two months ago. Chose the S2 over the CAAD and I love the S2. Super stiff and fast.
Not knocking the CAAD, but I definitely don't regret the decision.
I built it with Force and Soul S2.0 - 15.2 pounds.
Here's a pic with my Soul C5.0s. I also switched the bottle cages to Vincero magnetic.

If I had money to burn, I'd get the Cerv S2 and build up the CAAD, as well!
If money is hard to burn, I'd just build up the CAAD!
........However, you know color could be a major psychological problem...I never could get used to a red or yellow vehicle of any kind, no matter what the wheel count!

PS.
Why does it have to be a Black CAAD 10 5?
I most probably would have just stated a CAAD 10 5...

yea, i'm a fan.
i use them on 2 bikes now, training and racing. I got used to them very quickly. they're light as hell, and for $200 i have 4 mounts and TEN bottles. compare that to the price of one campagnolo carbon cage.
i've only dropped a bottle once on a horribly rough road in the ghetto. i've ridden on cobblestones Roubaix-style and they have stayed secure.

I certainly would invest in a CAAD10. After two carbon bikes that got creaky over time, I'm having second thoughts. My Gios and Masi never made noise.

The caad and a beer can have about as much in common as your carbon bike and pencil lead.
