Wheel Opinions Wanted
I'm thinking of a new line of handbuilt wheels catering to Clydes and Athenas, as well as triathletes and road racers who want a slightly heavier, more durable aero wheel. I'm looking at a couple different deep aero rims, but would build these either 28/32 or 32/32 for extra strength. The costs would also be significantly less than many of the other wheels out there for similar profiles.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks

Perhaps the Clyde/Athena forum would be a good place to ask

It's ALL base...
Yes, make them heavier. That'd be different! ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
As someone pointed out to you, it's not the lack of heavy, sturdy, aero wheelsets that's slowing most of us down.

So these would compete with say Williams 30X and be cheaper? I only weigh 145 so not a user of these but if someone weighs 200-225 and wants a good set of wheels these are the ones I suggest.
Also agree you may get better feedback in the clyde's forum.

The purpose behind the idea is to allow for training on sturdy aero wheelsets without trashing expensive race wheels. In training, the extra weight is not an issue, and this should allow for better handling with aero carbon wheels.

With all due respect, I question whether there would be much of a market for these. Big guys (I'm 6'2", 195 lbs.) have too much inherent wind resistance for aero wheels to noticeably improve performance. OTOH, if I were my weight but 6-8" shorter, I might be interested, but I think the number of active cyclists/triathletes with those dimensions would be a pretty small subset.
FWIW, I have three bikes, and all my wheels have 32 spokes (except for my spares, which is why they're my spares).
