Hit new max HR - didn't feel so good

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And no those theoretical formulas are a bunch of rubbish and are the least bit accurate.
So are they rubbish or are they the least bit accurate (which means they are somewhat accurate)?

If I hit 200 I stop and take a break. After that point, everything gets really weird like a PC trying to do to much at once and is moving programs from RAM to the hard drive and back.

If I notice I'm in the 190s, I dial it down a bit in an attempt to regroup. Though, to be honest, I haven't hit 190 over a year so I think I'm doing something wrong or need to find actual hills and not these bumps I call hills.

I would say they are estimates that on average might get you in the "ballpark" but your individual HRmax may or may not fit the formula.

I am sure it is not accurate since I am often not even breathing hard, and able to carry on conversations with other riders. I have tightened the strap as tight as is comfortable, made sure the contacts are wet, even turned it so the contacts are on my back. Garmin replaced the unit in case it was at fault, but the new one is the same. Anyone have an idea what is going on?
I do know what's going on as I've experienced it. It's a well known issue with their newer chest strap. The old one works, the new one can be very annoying indeed. Lots of posts on Garmin's forums about the issue. Check this one out - https://forums.garmin.com/showthread...uunn#post17601 . It would be worth your while reading the whole thread I think.

I know this is for a garmin 310xt, but I am sure they use the same strap across all their newer devices.

That thread is a couple years old. Which version of the premium strap are they referring to as I think they've had a couple. I have an "older" one from last year and also the newest one that comes with the 800 and Forerunner 410 and 610 and maybe others. In either case, I have not seen these issues. Maybe the newer ones have addressed it or maybe I just got lucky so far. My daughter has one of the newest ones and doesn't even use it. Hope that one isn't defective.

Speak to suppliers and see if anyone has the strap thar came before the "premium soft strap". This previous strap works perfectly. It's what I use. when I got my watch it came with the new strap. Contacted supplier and they sent me the older one.
