What stops you cycling?

Chest infection will stop me for a day or two, otherwise it never improves. I say that, having cycled into work today with a mild chest infection...

Currently, it's a torn descending aorta. Real fun experience. Tore between where the branches go off to my kidneys and where they branch off to each leg.

Bad weather. Illness. Family or work responsibilities. Occasional lack of enthusiasm; also called laziness.
For the most part it's just bad weather that stops me from riding.

Two layoffs this year: once for injury, once for 'flu (not just a cold, unfortunately).
A third would be out of town travel via airplane. Although I like the idea of the Bike Friday bikes. Might be an option in future.

Outside the given family/work committments, snow and/or very cold rain, 30+ winds, mechanical issues, and a very bad cold. I would also have to be jonesing pretty bad to ride into the 20's or below for any more than 30-45 min. I try to HTFU as much as I can but it frickin burns my lungs something fierce, esp after a hard effort.

A very ugly divorce. Just sucks all the energy out of me with nothing left for a ride. Thankfully that only lasted 7 months. Also maybe a 45 deg rainy day will do it too.

I'm going to be taking a mountaineering class pretty soon, and I'm starting to train for it. So, that's having me ride less.

My Chemo has had me off my bike since March. Had my hamstring removed July 9 and I did a few 5 mile rides just to prove that I could do it, but when the chemo resumed, I wimped out. I could ride, and have been encouraged by several here to keep riding through it, but it has just sucked everything out of me. End of treatment is March 10th. Will hopefully start riding again by April 1. I miss it.

Descends like a rock
Rain or ice. If its pouring, I'm not to start a ride, but I wont quit if a shower blows up while I'm already out. Ice is a no-go. I'm in Texas so I'm not getting studded tires.

lyme disease cause was the deer tick and it sucked, knee is still unappealing to look at but functions well enough. That being said, NOTHING is stopping me from 60 miles on the Tarmac not even the 26 deg F temps. leaving in 30. make it a good day

I have been off the bike since July. Doctors orders. I am recovering from surgery. I will be able to ride again next month.
