Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Could anyone recommend me some long sleeve jerseys and cycling pants? It doesnt get too cold where I live, usually around 45-60F degrees. For jerseys/jackets I have been looking at.

45-60F is not very cold. If you're hard core (pedal hard all the time), then either of those may be too warm for your temperature range.

I have this Jacket and like it. I has a semi soft surface and is warm. It washes well and still looks good after two years of use. It is not as warm as some jackets but will meet your temperature needs.

When it is cold, 40 or less I wear a long sleeve jersey under it, and when it is really cold I also wear a long sleeve base layer.

Everyone is different when it comes to the cold. Down to 40F I wear bibs, base layer, jersey, vest, arm and leg warmers.

It also depends on whether you are doing a group ride and have to stand around in the cold. I sometimes use arm warmers but don't really bother with leg warmers. I do have two full bibs and one is a little warmer. Even in warmer conditions 50+/- I use my full bibs. I find that it has little impact on overall body heat and my legs are happier when they are warm.

I love the first of the two items you linked to. I have the short sleeve version of that thermal jersey and pair it with arm warmers, and for me it's perfect between 40 and 60 degrees. The material is a lot like a normal jersey, only thicker and fleeced on the inside so it's light and easily breathes. It's like wearing a normal jersey, only warmer.

The second item I don't have but I generally find anything that has a "softshell" really isn't breathable enough for me when I'm riding hard. I sweat, but not a lot compared to many people and softshells just don't seem to keep up. I do have a PI softshell jacket but it really only comes out in temps under 40, otherwise I'm just swimming in it.

For temps around 45f I would use a base layer under a long sleeve jersey and add a wind vest for the descents. I also like to cover my head with a LG hat cover, that seems to help a lot. A jacket is usually too much, especially when climbing.

You can get UnderArmour cold gear compression pants and then put on your shorts over that. The UnderArmour will cost about 49.00. They're a little difficult at the cuffs because they don't have a zipper. But as far as warmth and compression, it works at maybe half the price of a Pearl Izumi product.

The first jersey should work, and that's really as heavy you want to go for the temp range you mentioned.

There is no need for long tights or bib tights. You just need a pair of knee warmers.

Merino wool works great also in that temp range. You can start with a nice baselayer to see if you like that.

Toe covers are a good thing when it's in the 40s.

AeroTechDesigns has some good quality stretch fleece bib tights-
https://aerotechdesigns.com/tights.htm#tights
They're warm enough for me down in to the thirties.
They also have some heavierish long sleeved jerseys at a decent price.

I agree with SeattleForrest, merino wool base layer is worth every penny; combine it with a long sleeved jersey and a thin windbreaker and you're golden.

Try this, it will last forever, it never smells, perfect in wicking away moisture, comfortable wet or dry and perfect, by itself from 45 degrees to 60 degrees.

You can use leg warmers or tights but I find that long leg bib tights are quick and easy. At $100+/- they are worth the investment.

Yes when it is really cold booties for you your shoes and head cover is a good idea.

Yep, I now have to agree with this. All last winter and up to yesterday I'd been using various UnderArmour type shirts as baselayers. They worked ok but soaked up a lot of sweat. The real problem is that they'd get really cold if I took even a short break and then would take forever to get warm again.

Finally picked up my first merino wool baselayer shirt and wore it yesterday for a 30+ mile ride in temps of 7f. The shirt moved the sweat very well and I never got cold even when stopping for a couple of minutes. Very impressed and will now be looking for more wool to use as the temps are only going to get colder here as winter sets in.
