i could write a book here, but i'll just stick to a few points.
Boring:

any bike brand that does this kind of work is not boring. Well done trek for green-lighting this project usually done by small boutique brands.
Brand:
Lemond was at one time the 5th largest bike brand in the us.
Trek dropped the rights to lemond accessories, so greg made a deal with a firm (pti) to continue non-bike merchandise which pissed trek off. Pti screwed it up with deals like target which greg disliked.
Reputation:
Greg was telling it like he saw it. It's speculation that he was doing it out of spite for having armstrong beat his tdf record (through outside means), but i can't argue it certainly looked that way. Plus i think we'd all be a bit irritated by it. Nevertheless, when even bicycling magazine and bill strickland come out and stitch together a mountain of evidence, which lemond kept randomly discharging, suddenly he shouldn't look so crazy. While i'd rather have the past stay in the past at this point, the grand jury and case against armstrong certainly appears on its way to give lemond a huge "told you so" moment.
However, because greg was in the trek family he unfortunately needed to bite his tongue i think. It would have have been tough but the appropriate thing to do given the business relationship. For instance, radio talk show hosts never bad mouth a colleague even if they are on opposite ends of opinion.
Person:
If you ever get to meet greg or hear him talk, blank your mind of any misconceptions and then judge. He is just a nice guy and awesome cycling figure.

Spot on......All the Lance backers will be doing a huge "No way", when it's revealed their golden boy was infact winning dirty. Happy to say Greg told you so.

You made the accusation of causing a man's murder. I'm asking you to produce a shred of direct evidence of that. Just as you have demanded evidence of anyone doing so much as stating their opinion that Lemond is a 'tool'.
Is what I'm asking unreasonable?

But, hey, rock on.
Here you go........https://www.ajr.org/Article.asp?id=2062
Now you can go back to trolling on a Lance Armstrong fanpage or something?

Bikes: are better than yours.
Lance was the face of Trek bikes. Greg had to know that disparaging that, for whatever the reason, would harm his business relationship with the company. It's not hard to figure out and it has nothing to do with whatever "the truth" may be.

Never made a direct accusation, I said because he owed some mob guy some huge gambling debts from golf, somehow he was linked to his fathers death, as the guys who whacked Jordans dad, were somehow connected to the mob dude?
But, hey, rock on.

And you have again assigned him blame. So I 'm asking you to provide any evidence you have that it was connected.

This thread has lost it's original focus. Let's stop the squabbling and get back on track.

I, however, am a fan of professional cycling and I think I'll continue to support the guy who told the truth and had the balls to speak his mind no matter if it caused him economic harm. Especially in place of the corporation and lying cheater.

If they reappeared with the same quality and value, I think they'd have lots of buyers waiting. They'd sell based on the merits of the machine, politics aside.

I just kept my cosmetically beatup 2000 LeMond Zurich over another mint looking 853 steel bike based on how well well that the LeMond actually road. They are comfortable, fast, well handling bikes as those of us who ACTUALLY ride them understand. Out of my stable of 6 (actually since Sunday just 5) bikes I would put the LeMond on top as the best overall bike despite being the oldest.

I have a 2008 LeMond Tourmalet. My first modern road bike. The cost was reasonable, and the ride is better than my old steel bike. It's basically a Trek 2.1 that looks good.

I don't own a Lemond but I've ridden a couple in the past . . . great ride even though they didn't fit me.
Currently I don't have storage space for another bike, but when I do increase the storage the next bike will be an 853 Zurich.
